13th Grade: Real World 101

Must Read
The author is honest and vulnerable. He exposes many of his past experiences (both good and bad) to help others. Everyone would benefit from multiple topics in this book. These are things that are learned and past down but often not taught in formal schooling. Life is hard and Daniel reveals this while giving you options to make decisions to make your life a bit easier and more fulfilling. The author shines in the chapter on “Laws,” drawing from personal experiences.

Good Info, frustrating writing style
I bought this because it was really cheap, and I wanted to see what kind of things were in it, so I could share it with some young people I know. Unfortunately, the book is pretty frustrating to read. Format wise, each page is broken up by spaced out inserted quotes or kernels of wisdom, and it is kind of all over the place. I takes too little time on practical things, and WAY too much time on investments and things that aren't necessarily relevant to a high school grad right away. It's decent info, but this is definitely not Dave Barry.

A must read.
This book is written in a way that anyone can follow. It's informative and fun to read. I enjoy the multiple views and its open approach to let the reader think.

Very real words about the real world
Very well written! I think this would be excellent for young adults in high school to read. It’s honest and thought provoking.

A Gem of a Book
As a published author of four books, two fiction and two non-fiction, I read a great deal and am not often consumed by any particular book, except perhaps one from the "classics". I also taught college journalism and writing for 18 years and am not easily impressed. But Daniel Hofstein's "13th Grade" stands out for its unique approach, its content and its stellar writing style. He mixes his life-lessons with famous quotations and detailed descriptions of his own experiences and the result is captivating. His is a book the reader can reach for, flip to any page and learn something new and different, something not taught in classes, but much of the information is based on the wisdom of the ages.. He aims the book at the high-school graduate who thinks he or she is prepared to face the world, and use the information to live a life of meaning and quality, given the sacred piece of paper received at graduation. The reader finds his perspective to be entertaining and informative as well as thought-provoking.I read the book and am re-reading it from time to time, just opening pages at random and seeing what Hofstein has written or what philosophers and famous authors he has quoted to explain life's mysteries. If the reader had no idea the age of the author or how successful he has been in varied career and academic settings, Hofstein might be thought of as elderly or retired and merely looking back on his decades of lessons learned. Instead, the reader discovers he is relatively young and just testing the waters of life. Other reviewers have suggested the book to be a perfect gift for a recent high-school graduate. I feel the book would benefit anyone of any age.Page after page, the author's real life is intertwined with scholarly advice. His successes and failures are interwoven, making the author's own story an open book, literally.Try it; you'll like it...

Everything every high school graduate sgould know.
Fantastic book! Full of information about the real world and what my grandchildren should know when they graduate from college. It has everything that their parents did not know or couldn't tell them and what is not taught in college. I gave two of my grandchildren the book and they both think the book isAmazing. I just purchased another copy for another grandchild. I have 7. Now all my friends are clamouring to get a copy for their grandchildren.

This book makes a great gift. The information Mr
This book makes a great gift. The information Mr. Hofstein provides is so fundamentally important in our day-to-day lives that it is a shame we are not taught this in school. This book will be a tremendous aid to those who read it.
