Writers INC: A Student Handbook for Writing and Learning (Write Source 2000 Revision)

This is almost a must have if you are using the Writer's INC Handbook (2006). It's good if you're using it for writing lessons. It provides chapter notes that correspond to the handbook, teaching tips, assessment tools (near the end), additional learning strategies, and tips for getting the most out of the handbook.Would highly recommend if you need guidance on how to grade or evaluate writing assignments.

Whether you are an advanced high schooler, just beginning college or an adult wishing to improve your speaking and writing, this book is for you.

An earlier edition of this book was a required purchase for my high-school English class, and I've kept and used it through the work for my bachelor's degree and even into my master's. I bought this, the current edition, for my daughter, and I have every confidence that she'll use it throughout the rest of her high school years and take it on to college as I did.The book itself is very high quality and built to last, while the updated material makes for a thicker and more useful book than my 25-year-old edition. Rather than having the dry, technical style of a typical English handbook, this book has a conversational style that addresses the subject matter via explanation and extensive examples. I would enthusiastically recommend this book to a high-schooler about to write that first research paper, a college freshman going into Comp I, or even an adult returning to school after a long hiatus. It's an excellent reference.

I received a copy of Writer's Inc back when the cover was yellow. I saved many textbooks to refer back to throughout high school and college, but Writer's Inc is the one reference tool I always came back to. I am now 40 and still refer back to this book from time to time. My daughter recently received a well-loved copy of this newer version from a tutor with whom she had bonded. This new version is twice as thick as the old version with lots more information. I will never give up my old yellow Writer's Inc, but I did buy this newer version for myself and copies for the rest of my kids. I hope they will take good care of them and recognize just how valuable a resource each is. I hope that, like mine, their copy of Writer's Inc will serve them well through high school and college and well into their adult lives.

Good info, organized well. Got this to help my kids write plays and short stories.

I expected a second hand copy of the newest edition based on the listing but received the old edition. Still a great resource, but was a bit disappointed as the new edition is said to contain a good deal of added content.

As a writer and a 15-year homeschool veteran, I have used many different programs for composition. At last I have found *The One.* Writer's Inc Teaching Guide, used in conjunction with the Student Guide, is everything I have looked for in a writing program. It is rigorous, yet flexible. It works well for students with varied ability levels, as well as those with different learning styles. I wish I had found this program 15 years ago. Highest marks to Writer's Inc!

Having taught junior high Language Arts for 30 years, after retiring, I found the desire to keep up with my writing. Sadly, at the time of my retirement, many of the grammar rules were changing. I searched madly for my favorite 'go to' book we used in my classroom! WRITER'S INC!This book is extremely helpful for a quick search to answer questions one might have when creating any style writing! LOVE IT! I give this book to graduates who are heading to college! An EXCELLENT SOURCE!

This book is like an encyclopedia of English skills for life. It covers basic concepts of nouns etc, how to answer complex exam questions and how to review literature of all types, but also covers those things you'll need in life such as cvs and thank you letters. I just wish I had discovered it when I was studying. Now I'm using it to home school my son and it is invaluable.
