Q: What's the cheapest way to automatically control this Actuator? Assuming I have nothing else, what else do I need to buy to control this automatically? I just need this value to move side to side on a set schedule.

Actually, the simplest way to control the actuator is manually. All you need for that is a 24vac transformer available at any hardware store, and a single pole, double throw switch. Connect one lead of the transformer output side to the center (common) tab of the switch, connect the red and white wires to the other two tabs on the switch. Doesn't matter which one goes where. Then finally connect the other lead from the transformer to the black wire. Apply 110vac power to the input side of the transformer. Switch will move to either closed or open until the internal cam switches open and stop rotation. Putting the switch in the opposite position with rotate the actuator 180 degrees in the opposite direction until the cam switch stops it. That's it. From this one can see that the switch can be replaced by any double throw relay controlled by any timer device than can actuate the relay. A sprinkler timer, a little timer board (lots available online), a diy micro controller like a Rasberry Pi or such, or pay thousands of dollars for a "pool controller."

Q: Does it automatically shutdown when reaching position? Can I continue to power without damaging?

Yes, the motor will automatically shutdown when the position is reached. Power can be supplied continuously with no harm done. The micro switches inside the actuator will shut off the motor.
