You are much better served getting a camera like this than Foscam or Dlinks. The Foscams only support MJPEG video and literally fall apart if you bump them too hard. The Dlink server is so slow that if you actually get an alarm the problem is already likely long gone by the time you get an alert. You are better off with one decent security camera than half a dozen of the competition. Hikvisions are solidly made and work well. They also have 'smart' alarms which pick up people or vehicles without giving you dozens of false alerts during the day that a motion detection would.

The lens got foggy right away. I took it down and put it in a container of rice for 2 days and now there is no moisture in it. Easy to set up and the image quality is great. Nice wide angle.

DS-2CD2085FWD-I, paired with HIKVISION NVR.The picture is "fine". WDR effectively corrects the scene.But something is alarming: the body of the camera gets extremely hot, over 100 degrees. I like the camera overall, but I will not use it eventually. If the body of camera gets so hot, something may melt inside, producing possibly open fire near plastic soffit :(. I have a variety of cameras from different manufacturers - none of the cameras gets hot nearly as this one.

Great picture but have had nothing but trouble trying to get motion detection to work reliably. I have tried a number of settings using normal, expert, line crossing and intrusion detection settings and variations of. This camera came with a version of firmware not listed on Hikvision’s USA site. So I rolled it back to their latest version and some things improved but this camera is still glitchy and I have to reboot it to clear problems. I have 7 other Hikvision cameras, not of this model, I been using for several years, and don’t experience the problems this camera has given me.

Love Hikvision cameras. I have been a fan since 2015 and continue to attempt to find better value. This is a review of the HIKVISION DS-2CD2085FWD-I 8MP IP Camera. The camera is a great value for a 4k camera. Easy setup. I use this with my Synology Diskstation Surveillance Station system and it is recognized by model (compatible) so that is great. The improved IR for nigh vision really works great as it takes away the bright center and distributes the IR nicely to all areas of the camera view for a great night shot. Clear, accurate, smooth and reliable.

I've used this camera for 3 years and found it to be reliable in my high heat desert environment. Motion and VCA detection work as they should with my Hik branded NVR. I purchased the camera specifically for the advertised 8mp (4k video) video support. However, I found there is no discernible difference in fine video detail between 2560x1440, 3072x1728, or full 3840x2160 output, regardless if the highest bitrate (16Mbps) is used - it's all just sensor noise. The higher resolutions actually emphasis the grain making recordings larger without any other advantage. Overall, it works well with but with average video quality.

Camera came in with the latest FW and the startup asked for password just as advertised.... Could not tell the camera was not New.....
