Great movie, Will Smith at his best, great entertainment.

I have really been taken back by this movie, in a sense that is creates the right ambience of solitude, hunter and hunted. The only thing Robert Neville fears more than the creatures of the night, is his own loneliness.A truly heartbreaking story of loss, solitude and fear of being the last your kind to exist.I'm not going to compare Charlton Heston's, The Omega Man this, although they are both loosely based on the same book and would be unfair as 2 different tellings from different eras.From the outset you feel the solitude of a desolate New York, through amazing CGI work. Nature reclaiming it's land and wild animals flourishing once more. Just Robert Neville and his German Shepherd, Sam are the last remnants of mans domestic empire. An empire taken by a virus, the Krippen virus, manipulated by man, but still natures creation.Having seen the standard of the DVD release, on upscale, I wanted to buy the blu ray version....Gosh, I was not disappointed, the details are the sharpest I have seen on Blu ray to date, I cannot fault it and trust me, I was looking. The DVD was so good, but the blu ray comparision, there is no contest.Robert Neville tries to retrieve Sam from an derelict bank, inside; it is pitch darkness, with a glimmer of Will Smith and the torch on this rifle, the blacks in both foreground and background are blu ray perfect, I am speechless. The superb lossless soundtrack provides clarity across all fields, orchestrations are strongly delivered, speech is perfect and LFE is not over delivered for no reason. If you own the DVD, you will no doubt be impressed with that standard of quality. If you own a blu ray player, your upgrade will be the best choice you have made to date.I deceided on the box set for a few dollars more. In a poor global market, blu ray box sets and extras; are scant and this was more than worth the money. Postcards, booklet of the movie and more. Also contains, personally, the superior alternate ending.Please, I know everyone has an opinion, this is my opinion, please don't degrade my review with rude or arguementative disagreements, not only is it boring, it's naff. I just hope it offers fans a reason to make that choice for an upgrade.

Love this film even though it's quite an old one now! .. well worth renting or buying it👌

What a great show and it was nice to see will smith in something where he’s not playing a brash cocky hard man hero type character like he is in I robot etc… In this he is scared shirtless and is still also very much the hero! I’m glad they went with the ending they chose because the other one was leaked… the alternative ending can be seen on YouTube
