Reasonable and Reliable Beard-Trimmer
A long-time fan of Braun shaving products, my first Braun beard trimmer, which I purchased in Germany, lasted a good four to five years before dying a death. And so, when it came time to buy a replacement, I thought of Braun once again, opting this time, for the Braun CruZer6 Face.I have read a fair assortment of reviews on Amazon, and not surprisingly, they are mixed bunch -- to which I now add mine.:: The Good ::(a) Beard-trimming and shapingThe four cutting lengths on the adjustable primary beard-trimming comb gives a good variation in length for beard maintenance: the shortest is very short (similar to a week's beard growth for me from clean-shaven), and the longest is reasonable and tidy (similar to three/four weeks' beard growth for me from clean-shaven). The dual, cutters are also excellent for shaping and tapering beard-growth for a sharp edge. Beard trimming works well in the 'dry', but I would expect to obtain as good results in the 'wet'. The eyebrow-trimming tool is an added bonus and works well.(b) Price and longevityI have had my Braun Cruzer6 Face for around two years, and it still works well; I am, however, meticulous about cleaning and oiling it after use (once or twice a week for beard-trimming (depending on the time of year) and twice or three times a week for shaving as required). I originally paid in the region of £40.00 GBP for the device and believe that this is value for money.(c) Service and replacement partsIn the UK, the ability to obtain replacement parts (shaver foil, cutting block and primary beard comb) is excellent! The authorised Braun UK dealer is Olympic Shavers Ltd (www.shavers.co.uk), through which I recently obtained the parts described above for £28.50 GBP (including postage and VAT). They were delivered the following day, despite my having been warned to allow for three working days for postage. Now that is fast.:: The Bad -- To Shave or Not To Shave ::The Braun CruZer6 Face -- as has been stated in other reviews -- is a better trimmer than it is a shaver, an opinion which I share. But, for those prone to sensitive skin (as am I), it does a passable intermediary job as a shaver. So, If I alternate between traditional wet-shaving with a razor and dry-shaving with the Braun CruZer6 Face, my skin can survive the working week without any unwanted stubble.Given that the key to a close shave lies in skin preparation (moisturising and heat prior to shaving, then cold and moisturising after to shaving), I do not think that an electric shaver can ever render as close shave as a classic wet-shave.:: The Ugly ::The construction of the adjustable primary beard-trimming comb leaves a lot to be desired. In order, presumably, to reduce cost, the adjustable rack-and-pinion mechanism has a plastic pinion which will inevitably break with time and use. I would suggest that the pinion needs to be constructed of hypo-allergenic metal instead. I would gladly pay more for increased and reliable functionality.:: Conclusion ::The Braun Cruzer6 Face is a reasonable-to-good all-in-one electric beard-trimmer and shaver, and is reasonably priced for the purpose. But, if you are after perfection, then I would recommend purchasing a separate beard-trimmer and electric shaver, as no one device can be expected to deliver both.

Excellent, but needs better product after care from manufacturer.
I've owned the Braun Cruzer 3 for about 5 years, and it required a new foil & blade and a replacement trimmer attachment, which had broken. While the foil & blade could be found with ease, the trimmer attachment was more difficult to find. Braun's UK website states that the item was only available through "authorised service partners", without stating whom or where. After some searching, I did come across a few sellers that could provide the part, but the overall price of everything combined was close to buying a brand new Cruzer 6, which is nearly identical as the Cruzer 3.In that respect, Braun could do better by providing service parts directly through their website at a reasonable cost.As for the Cruzer 6 itself, I feel that it is an excellent shaver / trimmer. I have a sensitive skin, and the rotary type shavers will irritate my skin for prolonged periods (hours). With this foil type, the skin does still need to get used to it, particularly if you were used to shaving with a regular razor. However, this improves over time, whereas for me, the rotary types did not. Also, you do not want to shave with facial hair that is more than a day old, as it will start "tugging" your hair, rather than just cutting it, which is obviously very uncomfortable. This is also where the trimmer comes in handy, especially for those times where laziness has kicked in and you'd like to get rid of that few-days old beard. Trim first, then use the shaver, and it'll be nice and smooth again. The trimmer and its attachment also does a nice job of keeping my beard nicely trimmed. I don't like it too long, nor do I like the "1-day beard" look (though a part particularly for this has been included by Braun). The trimmer attachment has settings just right for me. The trimmer itself can also be rotated between a wide blade to a narrow blade, which is helpful such as around the mouth in my case.Cleaning is easy as well. Most of the time, you can simply take off the foil and then rinse the blade under running water. Every so often you use the included brush to get the stubborn bits out. Like this, the blade will easily stay sharp for a year+.As for keeping the trimmer in shape, Braun did this time not include any (mineral) oil as they did with my old Cruzer, which is slightly disappointing. However, a search on Amazon will show some alternatives products for this.Like my previous Cruzer, it charges quickly and holds the charge for a long period. For just shaving, I can almost get an entire week out of it. For both trimming and shaving, this is reduced to 2, maybe 3 days, but is still excellent for the short amount of charging required. The charger is a 2-pin plug, which requires an adapter that is not included. It also does not come with a pouch or bag to hold the various attachments, which might have been a nice extra though not really a huge issue. All in all, it is an excellent multi-purpose shaver / trimmer. There are a few negatives, and particularly I'd like to see better product after care for serviceable parts, which is why I won't give it the full 5 stars.

Good Versatile product
I got this initially as a supplement to my wet shave. out the box you get the shaver itself, with the ability to do a clean shave, as well smaller trimmers. There are also various attachments that help give different length of beards and certain other bits of the face. It also comes with a charger and basic maintenance tools such as a brush and oil. It can also apparently be used in the shower, not that I've tried this. Now I first used this for a clean shave, unfortunately, it seems a combination of lack of technique, like I say I usually use a wet shave, and my type of skin, means I come out of the basic shave with most of the hair there and an irritated face. At the time I bought this at half price, so it wasn't all doom and gloom anyhow, but this is where the extra come into play. Going back to my original plan to use this as a supplement, the trimmers are really good at keeping hair at a certain length. I can for example have a wet shave, and catch any bits missed, or better still, since my hair grows at an alarming rate, I can cut the hair to a even length later in the day to make look and feel better.Ideally I would liked to have used this as my main shaver but I doubt it would happen. Saying that, it's a good piece of kit and should suit anyone wanting a versatile shave
