June 2016 Update: Purchased this lamp a year ago for my 87 year old mother. She loved it. It says it has a 20 year warranty.After 1 year, the lamp started blinking off and wouldn't stay on. I contacted Brightech with my order info. They emailed back asking for the Amazon Order Number which I had included in my original email. I emailed back again stating the order number twice. In the meantime, I stupidly decided to purchase my mom another Brightech lamp (different style) since she loved the first one. I didn't hear anything back on the non-working lamp, but did get a request from Lauren, one of the co-owners, for a review on my new purchase stating they are a small company and need my help. I emailed Lauren back my disappointment that I had not heard back on the original lamp. Then I get an email from Rosemary in customer support apologizing and saying my concern was being addressed but no info on how. I sent two more emails asking what was being done. No response. A month later I get an email saying they're sorry and stating that my now 88 year old mother must box up this lamp that weighs about 20 lbs and return it before they'll do anything else. The box is long gone and even if I wasn't 1200 miles away, it would be a complicated effort to get this boxed and mailed back. I believe that Brightech is counting on customers to not mail the light back due to the hassle. I work for a school and every once in awhile we'll have a product go bad. The company ALWAYS mails us a new product first, then we use that box to return the product. It's going to cost $50 to ship this lamp and Brightech didn't offer to pay shipping.If you want to spend $110 for a short-term bright lamp from a company that doesn't stand behind their product, then buy a Brightech lamp. As for me, "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." Shame on me for buying the second lamp. Buy a lamp from a company with integrity. I won't be purchasing from Brightech ever again.Old Review - June 2016 So far this lamp is great. I sent it to my 87 year old mother so she could have a bright light for doing puzzles. She loves it! It was packaged in a bunch of boxes which was great for shipping and gave my mom a laugh opening it. The base is heavy (mom said 10 lbs) which is great as it won't tip, but it's harder to move around for older people. She loves the light. She had trouble with doing the edges and some pieces, but now she can clearly see and do everything. The only thing I don't like is that the bulb is not replaceable. The lamp is supposed to last 20 years which would be great, but it seems wasteful to not be able to replace the bulb if it goes out.

Brilliantly designed and executed. The articulation of the arm and lamp head is such that you can pose it perfectly, exactly where you want the light to go. The joints can be tightened/loosened to the individual's preference. The arm is long enough to provide for a generous reach. The arm also swivels, depending on whether or not you tighten a set screw. The LEDs keep very cool, so you needn't worry about 3rd degree, halogen burns. Quality materials and craftsmanship. The lamp is quite inconspicuous, so it can fit any decorating scheme.We searched numerous "lamp stores", but found nothing even remotely comparable.

I was concerned at first when I put this together. It SEEMED flimsy, yet it stands the punishment I give it. I switch from illuminating while I'm reading to illuminating my keyboard when I write papers. The light is bright and has a convenient switch right at the head of the light. I use mine at sitting level, yet the base is about 3 feet away, so I have the head stretched as much as it can go and there is never any droop or movement on the light.I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviews on this lamp....and is the main reason I purchased this lamp.

The lamp is what I expected in one review I read it indicated that the light was not enough for reading I find the light very good for reading, my only negative remark would be that the cord does not stay in the track that runs up lamp base I solved it by using a couple of zip ties. I hope the lamp lasts ten years as indicated all other claims that manufacturer made seem to be as imdicated.

I like it much more than I thought I would. I have a couple of floor lamps for reading in the living room, but neither are bright enough. I love this light. It's a good bright wash of clean white light without annoying glare. Easy to manipulate the position for whatever I need. Takes up very little space, and the contemporary design is neutral enough to work about anywhere, especially nice in our modern brick loft space. I'm recommending it to anyone who can bear to listen to me wax eloquent about my new reading lamp. I plan to order another for my art studio-- great for my fiber arts projects where good lighting is essential.

We bought this to reach over the back of our big sectional. We wanted it to take up a minimal amount of space, and not become the focus of the room, since it sits in about the middle of the room. This lamp meets all our expectations. The base slides under the sofa, so it's snug up against the back. The arm and head have enough flexibility to allow for angling it right where we need it to read, and the light is plenty bright. It allows me to look at magazines while we're watching TV at night, or curl up with a book. It's nothing fancy, but it seems well-made and is the right look for our somewhat modern decor.

Versatile and effective lamp. Well made, readily portable, and easy to use. Ours lives next to the wall in the dining area, aimed upward, bouncing bright light off of the wall and ceiling. When my wife spreads her sewing projects out on the dinner table, it is an easy matter for her to aim the light to flood the project area with bright white light. It is an OK room light, and an excellent project and reading lamp. We'll have a couple of these before we are finished.

This is one of the best reading lamps I've found in many years of searching. The particular feature I like is that the bulb or lens is not visible to me (when reading) and other people sitting in the room - a problem all too common with many lamps that are prettier.As a piece of sculpture I can't recommend this lamp, the finish is dull, the base was slightly dinged between its manufacture and when I unpacked it, but as functional lamp I can't say enough good things.
