The power of miniature angry bees!
I reluctantly bought this after my diamondclean packed in after 2 years. I really didn't want to spend another £100+ on a toothbrush (even though I loved it) so decided to try the cheapest one they do. This brush is amazing and I'm convinced Philips have found a way to miniaturise angry bees and put them in these brushes! Nothing cleans better!! The biggest thing I was going to miss was charging with the glass that came with the DC but I've just tested this one and to my utter delight, the glass charges it!! Well done Philips!! I love you.*Update* Turns out the glass doesn't charge the brush. I hate you Philips. Still the best brush ever though

Cleans well and feels nice in your hand
Over the years I've used both Sonicare and OralB electric toothbrushes, there is no doubt in my mind that they are much better than a standard toothbrush. My 4 year old OralB was starting to get a little tired with poor battery life and no matter which head I used it seemed to struggle with my teeth at times.I saw a version of this in Boots (HX6511/50) which being a slightly higher number should be better, but it turns out the main body is exactly the same but this model has a DiamondClean brush head instead of the normal brush head - it then dropped in price and was cheaper than Boots so I bought one.The packaging is all recycleable with no annoying plastic to peel off or break into with the skill of a safe cracker, instead the box is easy to open and contains the main body, diamondclean brush (inc plastic cap), charger and instruction manual/warranty information.Having used an electric brush for years, the first thing I did was disable the easy start that is programmed by default - this is a 14 day ease you into using it setting, basically it lowers the intensity of the vibrations and gently increases them over 14 days until you reach full power, to disable it hold the power button for a couple of seconds until you hear a single beep, to turn it back on, hold it again until you hear a double beep. With all toothbrushes, the first time you use it, you teeth feel very clean, well several days in and its still the same, smooth feeling, clean looking teeth and gums. Now all the major brushes have a 2 minute timer broken down into 30 seconds segments (one for each 1/4 of your mouth) - the OralB 30 second timer was odd, the first 30 seconds was only 20 seconds, the breaks between the segments were so small you could miss them easily. The sonicare is a defined break and each segment is 30 seconds. The only downside lf this compared to the OralB is the brush heads are quite a bit more expensive, but they do last twice as long (6 months vs 3 months) and are often found on offer in places. The initial charge lasted over 6 weeks!! which compared to the usual 5/6 days I was getting with my Oral B was amazing.

Great ultrasonic toothbrush - cleans perfectly
Bought this for my daughter. I've always bought the more expensive Sonicares for myself as I love how clean they make my teeth feel and my dentist always comments that my teeth never need a scale & polish as my teeth cleaning is so good. However, I have never had one of these toothbrushes last for more than two years which is what bugs me about Philips - the expensive Sonicares are far too expensive to have been designed to last only two years, especially when you are buying toothbrush heads regularly for it too. However, this one was less than £30 and just has one clean feature. Which basically is all I use on my expensive one. When a product has more features, there is just more to go wrong. I don't use all the bells and whistles on mine, I just use the clean feature so there really is no need for all the other options that make it more vulnerable to failing. This is a simple toothbrush that ultrasonically cleans teeth and for that, it's perfect and a reasonable price. Even if this one does fail after two years, as I fully expect it to, I won't feel as ripped off. I still feel as though Philips are shameful for designing a product that fails so quickly but a couple of years of perfectly cleaned teeth for £30 isn't too bad.

Superb!
My wife previously used a disposable battery operated toothbrush and said she needed to see the dental hygientist because of a build up of plaque. I bought this item because it was a Which best buy and much cheaper than their other best buys and she is delighted with it . Nearly all the plaque was removed with the first use of the product ,and it was cheaper than a visit to the hygienist!!There is another similair product available on Amazon, HX6511/50 which is more expensive but the Philips helpline says the only difference is the type of head sold with the toothbrush.

Sonicare: A good cheap brush but consistent quality issues with this model..
My last one lasted 2.5 years, guessing it go water in the switch eventually as would turn itself on in the night. Just replaced with exactly the same model. At around £35 this model is pretty good value and is all you need in a sonicare. One mode no fancy settings which you wont use. The big advantage I have found with sonicare is the long better life around 3 weeks without charging, so you never need to take a charger on holiday. I did think about buying one of the more expensive models, but really felt the extra brush modes and 2.5 year life of my last one was not worth paying more than twice the price for extra brush modes or travel charge case which you dont need anyway when you get 3 weeks use from one charge....second replacement lasted 6 months, so now replaced with more expensive flex care model. If I have another sonicare fail I’ll be going back to oral b, which seem to last as long as the battery keeps going.
