Impressive piece of equipment.
This is a well made and impressive piece of equipment. It certainly performs in the way described by the manufacturers and comes with an impressive extension cable and comprehensive instructions in English. In contrast to previous reviewers I did not find the controls difficult to access as the backplate was easily removed and refitted. It was even provided with mounting screws and wall plugs. I have not had it long so it's long term performance is difficult to evaluate but initial impressions are certainly favourable. So much so that I have bought another to cover a larger area.

Good bat deterrent
I got this to stop bats invading my roof. You can adjust the ultrasound to deter all manner of different creatures from birds to bats, but I have only used it on the bat setting. It does seem to work as there have been no bats around since I installed it. You need to connect it to the mains as I agree with other reviewers that the batteries do not last and it is a pain to fit the back cover. However, if you want to deter bats, (and once they are in, you are not allowed to move or disturb them!) I can recommend it.

Works well initially then speaker stops working after a few weeks (happened with 2 devices)
Initially works really well, especially with mains power, then autumnal weather settles in and the noise it used to make gets reduced to an ineffective whistle and the foxes/cats/badgers return to mess up the garden. Bought two and the same thing happened again. Shame

Doesn't bother London pigeons.
Pigeons sat right next to it, not at all bothered unless I used the audible sound. Sitting upstairs maybe 4m from where this was placed with my window open the ultrasound was audible to me (yet I am nearly 50) and irritating, but only went set to scan throuhg the frequencies. Sadly the pigeons didn't care, even standing within a couple of cm of the box.Only solution is not to feed any birds at all, otherwise I am plagued with pigoens (that's London for you I guess).

Reasonable if need to site in difficult location otherwise battery alternative more effective.
Bought a pair to replace battery operated Pest Beaters because being mains powered they would save me having to climb onto my roof to replace/charge the Pest Beaters' batteries. However, not nearly as effective as the Pest Beaters in repelling birds and one had a faulty mains adapter. Rather than go through the returns procedure I bought a replacement adapter for £4.99. Conclusion. Go for the very effective and easy to setup Pest Beater unless you have to site the device in a difficult to access position.

So far....so very good
I have been at war with the neighbourhood cats for many years. I'm a very keen gardener so the two don't mix but unfortunately i'm surrounded by them. I have tried EVERYTHING and there are 2 stubborn cats refusing to give up coming in my garden. The rest(possibly 10 other cats) have given up. I have a trail cam that showed me where these damn things were getting in. I used security spikes and chicken wire but needed a good alarm to let me know when something was coming in. The audible sound on this alarm is very, very loud. There are a couple of sounds. The screeching eagle sound is so bad that it makes me want to run away. I have no clue if the sonic alarm works. I have two other sonic alarms but i don't know if they work on these 2 cats. There is a small LED light that comes on when the alarm is triggered. It's not very good. But for the audible alarm in itself, it's worth getting this item. My only moan....as others have said, getting the back off this item is awful. It's a bit like an impossible tupperware lid. Getting it off was annoying but getting it back on again was worse. And the controls are inside so to adjust it, you have to keep getting the back off.I haven't been paid to review this item. I just bought it because i'm sick of finding cat s*** everywhere.

Ultrasonic Sentinel does work
It was feeding a pigeon that caused a lot of distress as soon a colony became regular visitors chasing anyone if you stepped in the small backyard. The flock of pigeons appear to have weakened after a few days use but a few who do appear look with a questioning look as to why the device yet keeping the distance. The Sentinel is switched off before feeding the few who hang around. Anyone with a large garden may require a couple or more. The usual remedies of scarecrow or spikes or reflective tapes previously used failed to work. It will have to be seen if and when batteries weaken to bring the birds back.

Versatile loft deterrent that really works
Just before Christmas became aware of strange noises in the loft. Poked my head up there to see a Starling perched on the indoor aerial, needless to say there was no hope of catching it. Needing a quick temporary solution until I can find out how the bird(s) is getting in and plugging the gap, I hit upon the idea of a noise making device activated by a motion sensor. I started googling and found this device. The device will run on batteries or from the mains via the wall wart provided. I have power in the loft so this very convenient. It emits an ultra sonic screech at 110 decibels and intermittently flashes bright white LEDS as an additional scarer. It will either do this when the motion sensor is triggered (sensitivity of which is adjustable) or intermittently if the motion sensor is turned off (continuous mode). The ultra-sonic pitch is adjustable according to the animal you want to deter. It also has an audible setting making sounds like birds of prey, which I've turned off because I don't want to hear it. Ultra-sonic sound apparently does not penetrate solid walls so having it installed in my loft has not been a problem for my neighbour's dog. It works, I have had no more starlings enter my loft.
