So far so good.....
I have had the Nvidia shield for some time now and it is an awesome device. One of the key reasons for it's purchase was due to the fact that it could eventually be used as a Smart things Hub.The wait was very long but I am glad I did.Setting up the hub itself was quite easy once the smartthings app for the Nvidia shield was downloaded. For some reason however the "download" option was not there within the Google play store (propbably due to my location) so I had to sideload the APK file unto the Nvidia Shield. From there the setup was seamless. I linked the hub to my Android phone as per the instructions given and also integrated it with Google home.I have no issues at all with the Nvidia Shield going to sleep I even intentionally cut the power to see how quickly the hub recovered and I must say that I was pretty impressed with it's recovery time. It's a good device; 4 stars instead of 5 due to the sideloading of the Nvidia shield smartthings app.

Pretty terrible. Can't seem to connect to devices
Pretty terrible. Can't seem to connect to devices, can't reset / delete very easily, and there isn't much support when trying to debug since most of the SmartThings forum users are on the actual hub. Also on a different update channel soooooo probably a good idea to pass and go for the actual hub if you're wanting to play with thisEdit: updating to 3stars. Managed to get it to work properly by doing a full shield restart (it kept being disconnected in the about page of the smartthings app on the shield)

No Internet? Enjoy your privacy? No Bueno.
Requires internet connection for even basic functionality (like turning on lights). I had hoped that this would act more like the SmartThings hub which maintains some functionality without requiring Internet connection. Also, read Samsung's terms & Conditions, and privacy notice. Basically says that Samsung has the right to record your voice, and track EVERYTHING you do (like tracking your Facebook posts, and any android account you use to set up the device, or that is connected to your Nvidia Shield TV (not just things like turning on lights), hence the need to constantly be connected to the Internet to send your data back to the company. Samsung then sells this data to third parties. There is no real way to opt-out. The only thing you can do is opt out of Samsung notifying you when it is tracking you.I guess I am old school, I figure if I have electricity, and a working light bulb, I should be able to turn my lights on. Not so with this device. I kept the device, I got it on sale for like $10 USD, but I would never pay full price for it, nor will I ever use. The invasion of privacy, and limited functionality make it a one star product.

Can’t get it to work
Can’t get it to work with my Shield.. I don’t think Nvidia or Samsung support this product anymore...

Works awesome and opens up a world of home automation possibilities
Love this dongle. Saves having to purchase a standalone hub which is just one other thing I'd have to power. Very happy with how easy this was to setup. It self updates on first load, then adding Z-wave & Zigbee devices is easy. I converted all my older Zwave devices from my original hub to this one which now integrates with Google home for voice control and IFTTT automation. I was waiting for a hub which could do all this and found it with this Shield hub dongle.

Perfect for shield owners
Great for shield owners getting into home automation. Works with many zwave/zigbee devices. Setup was simple enough and it's worked great for the few months I had it. Had a few notifications of it going down it would reconnect before I noticed it was down. Over all great addition to the shield.

Skip this and go for a full-size hub instead
The set-up was easy, and it is next to no fingerprint in relation to space taken up. It's great that it doesn't need an additional power input as I didn't have any open outlets near my Shield TV. There are also a few downsides. The largest issue for me was the lack of compatibility. Many things aren't supported due to this being a v1 device, such as Samsung televisions. I returned and bought a v2 hub from Best Buy instead. I think I would have been okay with this if I had gotten it during the initial promo sale. Felt overpriced with a underwhelming set of features.

Meh
I like that there is a smartthings accessory for the shield but is only okay, when compared to the proper smartthings hub. Best things going for it is the price. One major thing to consider: when your shield powers down, so does your smartthings functionality.
