Original design for a hand-held. Nice.
This is a clever idea for a handheld "bottle." You really don't have to hold this bottle, you stick your fingers through the finger spaces and then it straps to your wrist and stays in place which is nice. It's a also a collapsable bladder, not a bottle, so it gets smaller as you consume the water. That means you have to keep tightening the strap as you drink but it also means that, once it's empty, it's really small; you could probably even scrunch it up and put it in a jacket pocket if you wanted to. The bit valve itself doesn't leak but you do have to be careful to get it screwed on securely and tightly which is a bit awkward with a flexible bladder but not too difficult. One mild problem that I should have figured out before I bought it is that it is harder to wear this with mittens instead of gloves. The design pretty much assumes that you can separate your fingers and stick them through their slots; I can still make it work when I wear mittens but it's not quite as comfortable or secure as it is with gloves. There is a zip pocket which is big enough for keys and gels. Small cell phones (iPhone 4/5's and SE's) fit but bigger ones probably would not.

Best running accessory I own
With other handheld water bottles I was out of water after 3 miles and had a hard plastic bottle to lug the rest of the way. This makes my 5 mile runs possible and I forget it's even there. One downside of the thin bladder skin is that it does not keep cold for the whole run. Towards the back half , the water will get fairly warm. It helps to throw the bladder into the freezer a few hours before a run to prolong the cold water a bit. If Salomon made an insulated Hydro pack, this would be a 5 star item all day long.

Unique design, REALLY works well!
Updated 10/19 - still great, still no leakage.Updated 8/17 -- a year later, still going strong. No leakage around cap at all. Very happy.= = = = = =So far, love it. No leaking. Holds a full 18 oz. Very important in Texas where it's 100+ right now and I run on a trail with zero shade. Not kidding. -Nothin' but power lines and sun overhead. And hawks.I wondered about this design, but I'm glad I made the jump. Super-comfortable, zero sloshing regardless of water level. With traditional bottles, my fingers/hand would get crampy from having to hold on firmly all the time, and it didn't feel right when I switched it to my non-dominant hand. Plus sloshing makes me nuts, and I don't like the hydration belt style because I already have a minimalist beltpack for my phone and ID that I don't want to change. This soft flask fits my hand very comfortably -- you really don't "grab" the flask at all, it just kinda lies comfortably in your grip. Your forearm actually does most of the work, not that much work is really required because even when full this whole setup is quite light.I'm right-handed and carry it in my right hand, but I never feel the need to switch hands at all, unlike my old bottle. That said, this design works equally well for left- or right-handed folks. The velcro strap also can be snugged-up on the fly so that the fit stays snug even as the water volume decreases as you drink.Highly, highly recommended. I'm thinking about getting a backup in case they discontinue this model.

Good product. Some slight flaws
Good overall quality and functionality. Very comfortable and love the pocket to hold chews and gels. The Velcro that holds the handset is already starting to weaken after three 10+ mile runs but hasn't failed. Wish the zipper was on the other side for easier acces though I could put it on the other wrist. For the price my expectation was higher than what I got but I like it and glad I made the purchase.

Works Great!
Pros: Feels great and is very comfortable. I often forget that I'm holding a water bottle while running. Great storage pocket for gels/keys/etc. that is easy to access. Soft flask does not leak and is very easy to get water from. Materials are also top quality. This unit is in the upper price range (at $45) for a water bottle holder, but it includes the flask and is a very good unit. Despite the higher price, I'd recommend it over any other handheld water hydration set. I'll be using this on every one of my runs/jogs and more!Cons: Strap is a little short, though functional for me, others with larger wrists may find the strap to be too short. The hook part of the Velcro is exposed, which may catch on your clothing at times while running (I ended up cutting a small piece of felt and stuck it to the exposed Velcro so that it wouldn't catch on my jacket while running. Looks and functions perfectly now and doesn't snag).

It was very uncomfortable for me. It just felt ...
It was very uncomfortable for me. It just felt weird. I don't know any other way to describe it. I chalk that up to personal preference. I gave it 4 stars for the usual Salomon quality, and the fact that my wife absolutely loves it. This is a serious accomplishment, because it has taken me 5 years to find something she would use. Once again, personal preference.

Best handheld option so far
Pros- substantially better than any other handheld option I have tried so far (and I tried a lot of them).- no sloshing- no need to hold it (like a glove with a strap)- very easy to drink from- good amount of space in zippered compartment for key, snack, drivers license- can be worn left handed, right handed, in palm or on back of wrist (although not quite as comfortable that way)Cons- water warms up quickly because it is held against your palm- bottles have to be hand washed- velcro strap is not best qualityDespite these cons, this is now the only hydration solution I take on short to mid trail runs.I expect the velcro will stop working soon, but will MacGyver it to get some more miles out of it when the time comes
