good, but fairly expensive
Not the most expensive, though. Some roasteries sell a pound of Ethiopian for 20 bucks. However, this Starbucks blend does pass all the tests:things you look for:1) immediate intoxicating coffee smell when you open the bag2) shiny beans3) consistent bean density, i.e. doesn't break the grinder4) after grinding, clumps together nicely - meaning there's plenty of oil in the bean, means the beans are not old.OK, yes, did good in all the pre-taste tests. But still, a bit hard on the wallet.

Hard as a Brick
Unfortunately, the 2 Ethiopia whole bean coffees that we ordered arrived hard as a brick. We opened one, only to find the coffee beans had disintegrated. No expiration date could be found on the packaging. We tried to return the unopened one, but found that no returns were allowed on this order. Very disappointing. If you love Ethiopia coffee the way we do, do not waste your money on this one. You will pay for broken whole beans.

Bottom of the barrel?
Previous order of the same item was fresh. This bag of beans were small and many cracked pieces throughout. The smell and taste from my Aero Press was disappointing. The bag is still around 2/3rds full so most likely the majority of the broken beans are at the bottom. I took beans from the top of the bag for this example.

Is this really Starbucks brand?
I was an avid drinker of Ethiopia coffee sold at Starbucks so, I was excited to see I could purchase on amazon.I tried it for the first time this morning, the beans didn't look good, it didn't smell the same and it tasted so bitter I couldn't even drink it! Couldnt find an expiration date anywhere on the bag? So disappointed!

Choco Citrus? You Bet!
The Starbucks folks really do roasting well. And the blend of flavors (chocolate and citrus) compliment each other making this bag of beans well worth the grind. As a teen, a classmate of mine clued me in to an a-la-mode option I had never considered before. A scoop of chocolate ice cream served next to a slice of lemon meringue pie. The sweet balances out the sour quite well. And the same can be said of this coffee. It's smooth, rich and flavor balanced for a great cup of coffee!

I'll be a repeat customer
Glad that I was able to find and get this wish that the price was below what it is but it is quality coffee just a little sticker shock

Excellent coffee but overpriced
Ethiopian coffee is the best and this Starbucks brand is excellent. However we used to buy this directly from Starbucks at half the price. We don't know why Starbucks stopped selling it directly. We may find another brand as this is too expensive

Starbucks disappointed
I was disappointed in this Starbucks coffee. It doesn't have roasted date. Could be really old. When opened the coffee package first time it didn't give the typical good coffee aroma. Will not order again.
