Too Small and Lacks Padding
I ordered two of these for me and a female friend to take as carry-ons on an upcoming vacation together. I am returning mine because it really is too small for a 5'10 male. She is keeping hers because it is a good size for a petite 5'3 female. She has a Canon Rebel T5i with an attached 50mm lens, her telephoto lens and her Canon flash unit in the divided camera storage section. There is room for one more small lens or a point and shoot camera, but not both. On the other side, she has a battery charger, two extra batteries, extra memory cards and some camera cleaning equipment. There really isn't room for anything else. There is another compartment in the front which has a pocket for a cell phone with a larger pocket behind it for a tablet. She doesn't have a tablet but my Kindle Fire did fit. The cell phone pocket barely fit my iPhone 5; it would not be big enough for a larger phone. The front of the unit has a hole through which you can fit the wire for headphones or earbuds so you can attach them to your phone, iPod or tablet and listen to music with the backpack closed. However, to work the headphone Jack had to be on the top. If it is on the bottom, as is true of both of our phones and my tablet, you would have to put them in upside down for the "system" to work. If it is on the side, you are out of luck. There is no room for anything else, such as a poncho, in that section or elsewhere. There is a pocket on each side but they are not big enough to carry very much. My passport barely fits in one. The manufacturer says the straps on each side will hold a tripod. Forget about that! I wouldn't think of putting a lightweight tripod on either side as there is no way it would be secure even if it would fit. My friend has a mini gorilla pod on one side of hers and it barely fit in the provided strap. IMO any backpack needs two sturdy straps on one side if it is designed to hold a tripod. My final concern about the unit is that to me it doesn't have much padding. I don't perceive it as providing much protection if you plan to take the pack with you during a shoot. It also lacks a rain cover. Finally, although it has a strap on the top to carry it when not on your back, the strap is very small (I have small hands and still can't get a good grip, not well secured and provides nothing to make it comfortable. I think there are many better options out there in the same price range. She likes the way it looks and is willing to overlook the problems at least for the present. I can't recommend it unless the buyer is a petite woman without a great deal of camera equipment who is looking for a good looking carry-on which won't hold much else other than a cell phone and tablet. I have included a photo of the bag we are keeping (hers) with all of her equipment stowed and the mini-tripod "secured."

Exactly as described, seems strong, lightweight, packs a lot of gear for it's size.
