Avoid LG at all cost
We purchased the LG washer and matching dryer. The circuit board on the washer malfunctioned, and the washer is now useless. We hired a service technician to service the machine. He identified the problem but promptly told us the part needed to repair the washer is on back order. Apparently, this is a pervasive problem with LG washers and the company isn't making parts available. LG referred us to lg.encompass.com for updates on part availability. According to the site, as of this past Tuesday, it would be available in 14 days. Day-after-day, the 14 day estimate remains, and the anticipated availability date gets pushed back. Not hard to see where this is going. Of course, all the while, we have a useless washer with no repair date in sight. I've contacted LG (repeatedly) and got bounced around from department to department to department. Apparently, no one in the entire company knows if or when this part will be available. I wrote customer service twice complaining that no one would answer my question (if/when the part will be available) noting I was being bounced from person to person. They promptly responded by referring me to a number I had already called with no success. BOTTOM LINE: We bought thinking that higher priced appliances are better and would last longer. That is not correct. This LG product has been dismal. Be extremely weary, LG does not stand behind its products, and you can easily end up where we are, living in a very expensive house with a very expensive washer, hauling your clothes to the local laundry mat. My strong advice is to avoid LG at all cost.

Not Very Impressed
I’m not terribly impressed with this washer in comparison to my last one (Samsung front-load). Consumer Reports gives this one very high ratings, but I’ve only had the thing about 2 months, and it’s honestly not as nice as my former washer.Basically, I can only use this thing on one cycle, normal. Anything other than normal and the drum bangs against the unit casing really loudly until it auto-retries to do a spin cycle, over and over and over. I’ve checked, and the unit is level... and the feet don’t wobble, so I’m not really sure what’s going on there. It’s hard to judge, but I don’t really feel like it’s getting my clothes as clean either. I mean, for the most part it does the job, but occasionally you do have to wash something twice.I’m not a big fan of how the cycles don’t remember when you make a change to something like water temp, etc. Normal defaults to warm, but I usually do either hot or cold. That said, I think there may be one cycle you can customize, but... with it banging so badly, I’m afraid to leave the normal cycle. Now, I’m not saying Samsung is a better brand... my old washer almost caught fire when it finally broke (hence the switch to a new brand), but when it was working it was nicer than this machine.

WORST washer/dryer ever.
We purchased the LG steam washer and dryer front loaders 5 years ago and I finally have gotten enough nerve to complain after 5 years of problems. First of all, the washer- it stinks, literally. I have used washing machine cleaners, bleach, baking soda, wipes the inside seal and everything. My clothes always smell musty. And yes, I am certain I use the correct amount of detergent and we use one with baking soda in it along with oxi clean. Next, the dryer- the worst part. First of all, items need to be dried over and over before they are DRY. I set it on dry by the minute, rather than using "normal" or whatever setting because clearly, the sensor or whatever does not work well. Now to my biggest problem. I cannot even tell you the amount of garments that this dryer has destroyed. They seemed to get snagged on something which then rips them. Numerous Bras, tank tops and now what really set me off and convinced me to write this email- my Egyptian cotton sheets. I am infuriated. I will attach photos. I will just say that the past 5 years I have told people never to purchase these products, but now I will go on every website, Facebook page, whatever to ensure that my review is posted. I cannot wait until we can AFFORD a new set. But I know they will not be LG or front loaders for that matter.I had to give it at least 1 star to submit this review.. I didn't even want to give it that much.

Works best with large loads
I hate that I cannot do a small load without at least two rinses and two spins; clothes are not heavy enough to keep from banging against sides. Repairman told me to cut the HE pod in half for a smaller load. He said this machine is made for heavy items, comforters, etc, but should only have my queen sheets washed by themselves! Otherwise I do not have enough clothes to wait until the machine is satisfied. Heavier fabrics have to be washed separately, not to mix lighter clothes or it makes the drum bang. It is too fussy!

Bottom weight on drum broke off
Had the washer for 2 years and it wobbled and shook violently with large loads. Just did smaller loads with low spin. Finally took the time to investigate what’s up. Found out that the bottom weight for the drum broke off. It’s attached by 4 pieces, 3 of which had broken. I found the connector pieces for only one. I searched everywhere for the remaining two. Not in the washer, not on the floor under the washer. No where, which can only mean it was a damaged unit when I bought it. So now I have to replace the front section of the drum with the connectors still attached to the drum to get the weight back on, and it’s Sunday, so won’t find if that part will be available until tomorrow. But after reading these reviews. The outlook does not look good.

Broke down after 2 years
We will never purchase another LG product. Our washing machine broke down after 2 years and will cost $700 to repair. Furthermore, the part won't be available for a few weeks. Our repairman said that he is being called out frequently for repairs on nearly new LG washers.

Poor LG customer service
I hate everything about this washing machine. To make matters worse - LG customer service is essentially non-existent.
