Japan Home: Inspirational Design Ideas Hardcover – March 10, 2010

A beautiful book, my only complaint is that the vendor who shipped the book packed it too loosely and as a consequence the dust jacket got trashed in shipment. My only reservation about the book is that it only vaguely identifies where most of the glorious photos were taken. Written comments are good, accurate and most readable.

Currently, I'm gathering design ideas for my future appartment. I have always admired the Japanese style, both modern and traditional, and so decided to purchase this book to gather room ideas. It's a great resource, with many wonderful pictures and pleasant descriptions, ranging from tea-rooms to gardens. I look forward to using some of these ideas while furnishing and decorating.

I read for more than just the content, but the content is good regardless. I can't say you'll be able to build your own Japanese style home right after reading this, but it's definitely a good insight into the styles and aesthetics of Japanese homes. The pictures are great, very inspiring, and I'm definitely going to use some of the ideas in my own future home.No problems with shipping, delivery time, or quality issues.

As far as the book itself is concerned, I love it. I was disappointed, however, that though it was listed as in good condition, it very obviously had had some sort of beverage spilled on it. Many of the pages were wrinkled and soiled. I washed it off the best I could and learned a lesson.

I own several and this is one of them. Overall, not as good as some of the others for what I wanted it for, but still very good.

Lovely book, but I like most anything about Japanese style.

I found this book to be a great source of interesting information about a culture that I knew little of.

Great home references but the print design doesn't follow its content.

I bought the Kindle version of this book and am overall impressed. It has some interesting information and ideas about Japanese interior design, but feels like an introduction to the subject as opposed to being a detailed reference. If you want to get some initial ideas and whet your appetite for Japanese design I recommend it - but I probably wouldn't if it isn't the first for your collection. The images are useful, but in the Kindle edition at least, they are too small. It'd be nice to have large, high resolution images to enjoy on the iPad. Would like to know more about the philosophy of design, something which isn't discussed in enough detail here.

I found this book (Japan Home) rather disappointing as there were so many repeated images copied from the 'Japan Style: Architecture + Interiors + Design) book I had just finished reading. I expected more insightful context on the mix of East and West interior design. Instead, repeated simplified observations from 'Japan Style' graced a few new images.The chapter on gardens was interesting. All in all the book 'Japan Style' is well worth the money and a very good read. 'Japan Home', I would suggest you buy a sample first and compare it with 'Japan Style'.

Leider habe ich fast alle Fotos von Murata schon in einem anderen Buch bei mir zuhause. Das war vorher nicht ersichtlich. So habe ich Geld ausgegeben für etwas, das ich zu 90% schon besaß. Schade.
