Best Printer we've ever owned!
I bought this Brother Printer after another Brand updated and then would not recognize the INK Cartridge. I was really aggravated, it was 2 months old. This one said it came with a years supply of INK. Well I'm here to say I've been really impressed with the quality of the printer. It's just now running low on INK and we've done more printing than the average household( way More). We've had this for about 8 months and the cost of new ink is not bad. It prints from our phone, iPad , as well as the PC. It connects with the network easily, setup was a breeze, and no bigger than most other home printers. And the paper cartridge holds about half a ream of paper, meaning you don't have to be refilling it often. In short, I'm convinced this is the best home printer we've ever bought.

Simple, easy to set up and use printer that does what I need
Set up was easy. Downloading the app took most of the time. Prints much faster and quieter than my failed expensive printer but that is relative. I like the boxes of ink. It is a basic printer but it does everything I need. It is compact which I like. I am going to buy another for the wife's office.

Sturdy and Reliable Printer with Easy Set-up
Hello,I never write reviews but just in case this helps anyone else. I looked at a lot of reviews for home office printers and seems everyone has a vehemently negative review out there for every brand on the market. I got a bit discouraged thinking I would have trouble no matter what printer I ended up with. I was afraid of buying a printer that would be a headache to setup, because though I'm technically considered a "millenial" I'm actually not great with technology--I need something that plugs in and is super easy and straightforward to use! (In my defense I did grow up in the analog era and I kind of miss it...). I do not need a printer that connects to an app or has smart functionality; I don't really care about LED screens. I just need a printer that works! At the last minute my brother suggested Brother printers. So far I'm satisfied with the purchase. I chose this model because I didn't want to pay over $200. I need something that can print a lot of documents though perhaps not every day. It is primarily for student use, so it will need to handle high volume printing and occasional color, and preferrably not guzzle ink.In a nutshell:1. Setup was straightforward and as easy as it can be. Walks you through every step. No mishaps.2. Time from pulling it out of the box, running print check, to printing my first document was about 35 minutes. :)3. Printed off 75+ sheets in BW and Color right away with the starter ink cartridges and haven't run out yet--nor does it seem to be running low. I know some people had trouble with their ink running out right away, but mine was fine!In short, if you're looking for a reliable and sturdy printer without too many bells and whistles, straightforward and easy to use out of the box, I think you could consider this one. I am happy with my purchase so far and I never write reviews. But I thought this might be helpful in case anyone else was sifting through reviews like I did, feeling discouraged about the options. One of the criticisms about this printer is how long it takes to warm up before each print. It does take a couple of seconds but it isn't really noticeable to me. If you always need to print things off in a hurry though, this might be something to consider--but I barely notice it, and printing is pretty fast once the printer has warmed up.Hope this helps someone.Update 3/2/2023: Amazon let me know this had 100 helpful votes, so just thought I would update to let anyone know that I have printed almost 1,500 sheets and counting on the starter ink cartridges and it’s still going. The low ink/toner notification light came on about 500+ pages ago but I don’t like to waste ink so I have been using every last drop and it hasn’t run out yet. Except for a slight decrease in the brightness and sharpness of the color all the documents are printing fine. I no longer notice any warm-up time and the printer is still sturdy and works well. I am happy with the copy function and overall still pleased with the purchase!

Does NOT work wirelessly; Ink Costs a FORTUNE; Print Queue Gets Stuck EVERY Time, No Duplex Printing
This is the worst printer I have ever purchased, and I cannot warn people strongly enough against buying it.1. First, it will NOT print wirelessly at all. I have spent an entire week now, ever since it arrived, trying to get this thing to print wirelessly. I have tried every fix on the internet, every tech support suggestion that Brother offers, reset every connection ten times and disabled and re-enabled every permission - nothing. It will not show up on my computer at all. So I had to buy a printer cable and use that. But I paid for a wireless printer and that's what I wanted. I didn't get it.2. There is NO cheaper replacement ink from ANY company that works with this printer, and the ink they give you does NOT last at all. They are simply lying with their "one year of printing with the ink in the box" claim. I have printed 30 pages, regular quality (not high) and am already out of blue ink. And the genuine replacement ink cartridges from Brother will run you almost as much as the printer itself EVERY time you have to replace them. Seriously.3. Every time I print, the print queue refuses to delete when finished. I have to go into the print spooler, stop the spooler, go to the C file, delete all the files, go back to the print spooler and start it again, EVERY TIME. And getting the files to delete takes at least ten tries, as it keeps insisting it can't delete bc the file is open elsewhere when it isn't. It's insanely frustrating.4. There is no automatic double-sided printing! You have to print on one side, then go take the paper out and turn it around and over to do the other side. If you do it wrong, you waste all your paper and ink printing on top of your first side again. Who makes a printer in 2022 that can't automatically print double-sided?5. There's no paper feeder, either. Just the cassette tray. So be prepared to change all the paper every time you want to change back and forth from regular paper to photo, and be prepared for lots of paper jams.Just buy any other printer. This won't save you money and it won't work.

Love this printer so far.
This is hands down the nicest multifunction printer I've ever owned. Set up directions were really easy to follow and relatively quick, I had no issues hooking it up to my wireless network and was able to use it right away. The print quality is nice, though I haven't tried printing any kind of pictures yet. It has a good warranty and was easy to register. The only complaint I had was the description said it came with a years worth of ink in the box and it didn't in my opinion, though I guess it depends on how much you print after installing the cartridges it says there is enough ink for 700 pages. I could just print more then the average person does at home.
