Vanroe 'Magpie in Black & Red' Designer Compact Mirror in Gift Box - British Birmingham Enamel, Magnified, Traditional 'good luck' charm

I bought two of these compact mirrors on 4/9/14 and was very pleased. I am a novice compact collector.This is the first enamel piece Vanroe has put out. The compact has a good weight, it is solid and the design with the enamel and metal is nicely balanced with vibrant colors. The silver lines of the design are deliberate and clean which I think makes it more an art piece with the original and imaginative Magpie theme. The enamel top or lid is also solid unlike some other modern brand name compacts that I felt would dent easily. The outside metal of the compact does not get discolored by fingerprints from you touching it and it is shiny and mirror like. The push button opens the compact smoothly and the inside of the compact is very clean, the mirrors are clear as expected with a new piece and the workmanship immaculate. All in all a beautiful and classic piece, if you can appreciate vintage compacts this combines their great workmanship with a modern design.I did a little research since finding out Vanroe is making compacts. I like the fact they are a small company who makes their own designs, uses local artisans and foundries to make their compact mirrors. And another thing is that the owner Jane and her company, Vanroe have many years of love and respect for compacts. Jane the owner is very nice and was kind enough to email and let me know the exact day that the compact mirrors would be available on Amazon USA.I hope Vanroe will continue to make compacts and maybe venture into some powder compacts.

This compact was much better than expected. Wanted to get something unique and this fit the bill. The quality is evident once you hold the compact. Beautiful design and quality. Wish I had bought 2.
