Works good
It's a standard crimp frame with the Klein name. Unlike Klein's red handle ones, this takes standard crimp dies.

Worked fine on generic crimps
I had a screw missing on a pair of generic crimps I have. This set worked fine on them.

Won't seat correctly on Klein's 3005CR
I saw another review that indicated this die set could be screwed into Klein's 3005CR crimpers, after drilling a slightly larger whole into the lower die's screw hole. Well that's true, but not the full story - keep reading:Even if the dies are screwed into the 3005CR, they aren't going to seat correctly. The larger crimps (e.g. .255 & .213) might work okay, but the smaller crimps (e.g. .043, .068 & .100) are not going to seat close enough to crimp properly in the 3005CR.The 4 stars are for the build quality. I knocked off a star, since Klein could easily have made all their crimp dies compatible with just one crimp tool - only needing to carry one crimp tool of this size in their line. Instead they went out of their way to force us to buy more tools than necessary.

Solid crimps. Fit most ratcheting crimper frames.
Crimp wire core and insulation in one go. Work quite well. Solid crimps, just make sure you adjust the tension on whatever crimpers you are using if necessary. Nice item by Klein and a good price as well.

Just Tested with a 75Ω RG-179 Connector; Surprising these fit my Ideal CrimpMaster
I bought these HOPING that they would work in my IDEAL Crimpmaster. WahLah, success. I'm a hobbyist and didn't want to layout $100 for a special crimper. Trusting my perception, I could buy these 'look-alikes" for cheap and get by, And that we did. Photos show th e installed dies, a ferule in the 0.137 hex and the crimp result. My guess is that most if not all the Kleins would retrofit the Ideal Crimpmaster tool. BTW, I tried to crimp the center pin with the smallest ring at the end but the tool left a barb and I had to file that off to insert the pin. Stick with soldering. Obviously this is not a Mil-Spec application, and would never propose that. But for a few cables and maybe having to scrap one, the VDV201-042 and its companion VDV201-040 are worth the $20.

The hole doesn’t align
The hole used to attach the die to the crimping tool are not oval like the original that came with the crimping tool. I had to work on all holes to make it fit.

Works great, fits my cheap harbor freight ratcheting crimper
First off, I've never used a really expensive crimper, so I might not know what I'm missing out on. Having said that, these seem to work really well once you understand the technique. The die is shaped such that it will crimp both the wire & insulation at the same time. The insulation crimp isn't all that strong, but if you put just that portion of the crimp into the next smaller part of the die and re-crimp, it will give you a very strong crimp. Couple it with solder and/or heat shrink and you'll be in business.I bought another set of crimpers with multiple dies off Amazon for around $30, but I also "sprung" for the Klein jaws. Comparing them side by side, these appear to be a "first casting" as opposed to something cheaper which was probably cast off a 2nd or 3rd generation mold, losing all the fine details along the way.But what made this great was that this die fit my super cheap Harbor Freight ratcheting crimper.

Thanks
Good. Thanks

Good thing it was cheap.
The fit in the crimper was very poor, jamming the jaws even before any wire connectors were loaded. Very disappointed.

You rarely go wrong with Klein Tools
Ratcheting lever releases when the crimp is complete, which enables you to make repeatable crimps using the correct pressure. These will last longer than I do - extremely well made, easy to use, and easy to swap out crimp die sets.

Check your connector specs before you buy
This worked perfectly for me to crimp BNC connectors on RG59 cable. All connector manufacturers will list the recommended pin crimp and ferrule crimp size. Buy the die set that matches, use the correct type of cable to match the connectors, and you're golden.
