This CD has been out of print for years. Evil Stig was a band created out of the heartbreak of the rape and murder of Mia Zapata, lead singer of the Seattle based band, The Gits. Joan formed Evil Stig (Gits Live - spelled backwards) with the remaining band members, Steve Moriarty, Matt Dresdner and Joe Spleen in an effort to help fund the private investigator's search for the murderer. The entire Seattle Punk/Grunge community came together in many ways to keep awareness of this murder at the forefront. This effort, Evil Stig, was hailed as one of the best Punk albums ever made. Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill adds some songwriting and vocals. Mia's songs are performed with the passion of the zealot, and the intensity of the singing and guitar playing alone could make you a believer. In an unbelievable epilogue, a cold case DNA hit in Miami caught the murderer in 2004. This CD has been re-mastered and includes enhanced material, Including live footage from the era of the original Evil Stig.

GITS LIVE
One of the best bands to emerge in the Seattle scene circa 1990; saw them several times until the world shattered and MIA was found murdered. The event alone destroyed the whole scene, things went downhill, people left and music died. Out of the ashes rose EVIL STIG with Joan Jett taking on the vocals -- good on her!Mia will be sorely missed not just because she was one of the most dynamic singers to have graced this earth but also because she was a great person. If you buy this you have to buy the whole Gits back-catalog to compare, mourn and appreciate the contribution to music by The Rat-faced Sniveling Gits.

Ms. Jett's best ever.
I used to think that Joan Jett's style was cool, but her music was bubble gum "fake" punk. Then I heard this CD, which was in response to the rape and murder of Mia Zapata, the lead singer of the female Seattle-based punk band "The Gits." This CD, which features Joan backed up by The Gits' surviving members, is a mixture of punk/grunge and was a pleasant surprise. I stumbled upon one of the songs on a website and really liked it, so I decided to give the whole CD a try. I'm glad I did.

a must have
Awsome album. I was/am a very big fan of Mia Zapata. Joan Jett is another of my Favorite Artist - she has been since The Runaways. This album is worth the price for either one, for both it is a must have. The history surrounding this album serves to make it important for many other reasons. So now you have three reasons to get it!

Joan Jett heading a punk band better than you think!
personally I never heard of The Gits but this is certainly some great punk. this is really Joan Jett injected in Grit music and a marriage of the two styles very hard core punk at times and may be a bit oi thrown in with all original band styles a bit harder than you hear from Joan Jett but if your a JJ fan get this is really rocks!

Awesome Tribute to Mia Zapata!
Joan Jett and the surviving Gits released this to raise funds to keep the investigation of Mia Zapata's murder going, and that's why I bought it the first time. I bought a replacement after I damaged the first one. Joan Jett puts her own twist on Gits music, with no intention of replacing Mia. I think this is more rock and less punk sounding than the originals, but I have friends who disagree. What we agree on is our appreciation of how respectful to Mia Zapata this album is. It is an obvious labor of love.
