If I could give additional stars for a superior product, I would!
If I could give an additional star for a great product, this phone would get it! To begin, with standard shipping I received the phone in 3 days, well below the estimated 5-9 days. I have been a Tracfone customer for about 9 years and have NEVER experienced any problems with their customer service. About 5 years ago I really screwed up my phone by incorrectly entering a promo code and was forced to call customer support. I explained to the service rep that 'It is my fault that my phone is messed up.' The rep was courteous and understanding... he walked me through step-by-step as we reprogrammed my phone... so be cautious when reading poor reviews on Tracfone customer service, experience has proven otherwise. Now to the Alcatel One Touch Sonic: I find the features on this phone (at $17.99) just as complete as my daughter's $300 Galaxy. O.K., her Galaxy takes slightly clearer pics, but the clarity isn't that much better. The ability to connect to my wifi VPN is a BIG benefit for browsing at home or in wifi hotspots. The phone's screen is bright and icons (apps) clear. Android newbies will not become overwhelmed navigating settings and menus. The manual is small, but just d.l. one off the net and view it in full screen on a laptop or desktop- simple. I find the battery life to be good to very good as I only have to charge my Sonic every other day. Use prudence and purchase a good hard case for your Sonic. I chose the CoverUp case with free screen protector. I think my choice was a wise one, but others will make their own decisions. I will update my review on the Sonic as I put through the paces and as always, I write unbiased reviews, un-influenced by any offer from sellers or manufacturers, because like many Amazon customers, I rely heavily upon the reviews when making a purchase. And with that, I can state unequivocally that this Tracone Alcatel One Touch Sonic is an EXCEPTIONAL value for the price.

Low Volume Output , only 1GB RAM, but otherwise a Solid Performer...
UPDATE after 4 Months... Came back to say that I don't know why several 1-star reviews mention freeze-ups and other severe issues... I bought two, one for my mom and one for another relative. Mom preferred her old un-smart phone , so I've been using hers off and on for streaming You Tube to my TV and send Whattsapp photos and videos to my son's family in Hong Kong. That still works just fine, and my sister in law says hers is okay also. - no freezes. Perhaps some users have tried to download apps without first checking that there is sufficient remaining storage capacity. Maybe that could freeze up the phone ?_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________After a few days using this phone, I have no major complaints except for this model having below-normal volume in both its earpiece and its speakerphone. Would not fully recommend for those a bit hard of hearing, but other than that it is reasonably fast, has a good display, and it is a bit heavier and hopefully more rugged than those super-slim phones.I have an Alcatel Idol 3 4.7" that replaced a LG Sunset.... If I had first bought this Sonic at the recent sale price of $25, I probably would have been satisfied right there, simply because I am not a game player or a frequent movie streamer. I am more a Whatsapp , Facebook, Amazon, eBay, You Tube, eMailer.... And yes, I even voice phone instead of texting, if the person on the other end is older than my own kids (who are in their 30's).I believe this phone has been out of manufacture for a year or so, and that is why it is selling at its current price.. If you buy one and it is in an unopened retail box, WAHOO !!! A good thing, the battery is removable and replaceable, although I admit I didn't look for one on Amazon yet. That replaceable battery is important for a "discontinued stock" phone whose original battery may be weak from sitting around..Options: Check out these for a bit more $$$ ; LG Sunset ....BLU R1 w/ Amazon ads ...BLU Adv 5.0 HD -grey....all these just under $70

Bad description - Amazon should refund me
Description says Tracfone Network Type: GSM/CDMA but according to Tracfone it is locked to AT&T and can't be used on anything else. I randomly lose service even though I have signal bars and it randomly just says "Call Ended" when I try to dial a number depending on where I am. I can literally drive 2 minutes down the road, and not be able to make a call, drive 10 seconds further, can make a call, all while having signal because it's changing Towers apparently? The tracfone people are VERY unhelpful and it takes 10 minutes of explaining before they even mildly understand what I'm trying to tell them.Update: Now my 5th call to Tracfone. They are impossible to deal with..they were supposedly sending out a Sim card to fix it...then I find out they didn't put the address on my ticket so they never sent anything. After arguing with the guy for 20 minutes he finally got a supervisor and said they would be sending me a SIM Card to allow it to connect to T-Mobile...which I get 0 service for at my house, but it will work in the city I drive to most. So I specifically bought this phone because it claims GSM/CDMA and here I am stuck dealing with hours of tech support and headaches for a phone that will barely work and now it's past the return policy. Amazon should give me my money back for their incorrect product details. The description of this product lies, it does NOT support CDMA networks on Tracfone, AT ALL. Now I can't return it because I spent 2 months trying to get it to work.Update: I've now called Tracfone about 8 times, today was on the phone for another entire Hour. 6 hours later I'm waiting for that call back they promised me...
