received in new condition with 110v power adapter included
Ordered one of this item along with multiple others [I qualified for FREE shipping]. Received everything I ordered online through AMAZON.COM from the Seller 365USA in excellent condition and packed very securely and showing care for efficient delivery. Received the shipment Dec. 17, 2009 via UPS so delivery was as expected, if not sooner. UPS drivers were hurried because of Christmas rush I'm sure. Items were as advertised and were in new condition still in original packaging. I would definitely recommend this item as a good BUY, works well NO problems so far. Am a well-satisfied customer of AMAZON.COM at this point. Keep up the great work guys/gals. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY, PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2010.

Product specs not as advertised.
This product does not use the Cypress Tetra Hub chip as advertised. I think it could be a counterfeit.Or maybe the manufacturer just wanted to save costs and use other low quality chip because almost nobody could tell the difference, if they use this for a PC almost all the devices to connect would be High Speed. But I needed this device for and embedded system to connect multiple Full Speed devices and the STT type was immediate obvious. Will try now with the other hubs that advertise the FE2.1 chip. Hope to have better luck with those.

The hub chip is *not* as advertised
I purchased this device because of the advertised Cypress Tetra Hub chip. The product that arrived has an (inferior) NEC hub chip. Why is the NEC chip inferior?- It only has a single Transaction Translator. This means that the hub will only go as fast as the *slowest* device connected to it.- It only supports ganged power switching. This means that you cant send a command to the hub to power off one port at a time.I guess IOGear decided to change the product without changing the model number.Gory, Nerdy details:Bus 005 Device 022: ID 0409:005a NEC Corp. Underpowered?
I purchased two of these a few months ago and have used them exclusively for eight flash memory devices made by OCZ. The devices seem to work well when four of them are used in a different four-port hub, but when used in this hub they occasionally have an I/O error. Using the external power does not fix the problem. Since I own two of them and eight memory devices and it doesn't matter which combination I use them in, the problem is consistently associated with this hub. I can only conclude that the hub is not providing adequate power for four 8G OCZ Rally2 flash devices.I have not had a problem with temperature. Io performance seems reasonable. Form factor is great, but this doesn't matter so much if you have to carry the external AC adapter too! The USB dongle on one of my units gets stuck very easily, but this has improved with wear.

Minor flaws, otherwise works quite well.
This device is as advertised, small, portable, easy to use, etc. It comes with an A/C adapter that is not required for non-bus powered devices. The adapter is useful (and necessary it appears) for bus powered external drives. It has a 3 year warrenty and is extremely reasonably priced. There are 3 minor flaws:1. The device does heat up as noted by the previous reviewer.2. The uplink cable is mounted upside down, so the device sits on its back when connected to my laptop. This is minorly annoying, and I could turn it over, but I'm afraid it will cause damage to the cable.3. This device cannot power a bus-powered device without the A/C adapter, even if its the only thing plugged into the hub. This is understandable since those devices draw nearly the entire 500mA supported by USB ports. All in all, a decent buy, even with these minor flaws, I am very happy with it.

4 Port USB Hub
I purchased the IOGEAR 4 port USB hub to replace mine that burnt out. I have not tried it yet, but some reviewers notiticed that it gets hot and some times crashes your computer? I'll see about that. I liked it and still do because it is sexy compared to the less expensive black IOGEAR 4 Port Hub. If it has a heating problem, I will not place heavy loads on it. I will use it for my Wi-Fi antennas, charging devices and possibly for my speaker. Yall, want to know why it gets hot? 1. Because it has 5volts and 500ma running through all 4 devices. 2. You cannot place heavy loads on it like USB portable drive, game controllers AND burning a DVD. Get it? If it does burn out I will take it back to the store, get one more or ship it back to IOGEAR because I believe in their products. No Problem Here. And it's just so dam sexy, stop 'plainig and get the black iogear if you want. (Iogear GHU285w6 4 Port UDB 3.0 Hub) People!
