My second thermostat.
I have this same model thermostat at home and like it because it’s easy to read and program so I bought one for my cabin.

Life changing
This unit is great! It s very simple to install if you have a C ( common) wire. If not be careful of the rip offs from electrician. Paid $150 for the install in California of a new C wire and only $60 in Florida. FYI.We installed this unit and another one ($100 less expensive) the main difference with the Lower Noel is the ability to see the humidity level of your house. The other one does the trick just fine as well. The app is simple and user friendly.Definitely get it if you travel a lot and want to change your setting remotely.

Easy to ise
We like Honeywell thermostat and we bought 9 pieces from different sellers to install in each room in the house. We would like to say that we are quite happy with it so far. It is easy to use and to control from your iPhone. Now we can control our home temps while we are away.

Half-baked
The idea behind this is thermostat is quite good. However, the execution is poor, and it seems that the device was rushed to market. If you need to access your thermostat remotely, there are less expensive solutions available that do as much as this does, as well as more -- even from Honeywell. The thermostat looks very nice, and it's much smaller than you might expect. That's a plus. However, the large colorful is all but useless, as it only shows basic information and menus on it -- the advertised "5-day forecast" is **NOT** available on the thermostat screen, but only in the smart-phone app. It doesn't even give the daily forecast, but only the current conditions. If you want to plan your day, you'll need to pull out your smartphone, find the app, sign in and tap (or just use a different app). No, this isn't a deal-breaker, but it calls into question why anyone would spend that much money on a touchscreen thermostat if the real estate on the screen isn't utilized by the software.Another plus is the option to schedule the fan to recirculate rather than just the ON/AUTO options other thermostats offer. But once again, Honeywell missed out on making this feature great by providing no additional settings or adjustments. It might be better to circulate air more often when the outside temperature is higher during the day -- but again, there are no options to adjust that.As far as thermostat control goes, it's a bit sluggish, but works. The "temporary hold" options are a bit clunky, and could use separate controls for hour and minutes. Changing it by several hours is a pain due to the poor quality of the touch-screen (some finger-presses don't register until the third or fourth time). Control by app works as well, but there's a marked delay between changing the temperature on the app and the thermostat actually updating, sometimes as much as five minutes. That's not an issue when I'm away, but when I'm at home, I'd expect changes to be instantaneous -- something that is quite doable as competitors have shown. Honeywell however chose the path of least resistance and has all communication go through their cloud, rather than allowing direct control on the local network. The biggest issue however is that we're now putting a small computer on the wall to control our HVAC, but other than a pretty (yet useless) screen, we get nothing extra: No accounting for energy usage, run-times, no cool-to-dry option, no energy saving options or suggestions, no more than four set-periods per day, nothing. It's an overpriced thermostat with limited remote access ability and a free weather app. Conclusion: If you're in the market for a Honeywell Wifi Thermostat, go for one of the less expensive models. Yes, the screen is pretty, whiz-bang and all that, but Honeywell forgot to make use of it. Or consider the other equally priced options, like the Filtrete/Homewerks-branded ones from RadioThermostat, or even the ecobee, which does extensive logging. This one is going back.

Refurbished disappointment
I would like to give this RTH9580WF1005 a wonderful 5 star rating, but this 3rd purchase of this same model was a real let down in quality and functionality. Maybe because it was sold as refurbished? The thermostat unit won’t stay attached to the slightly curved back plate. It simply refuses to latch onto it. I managed to remedy this with some thick outdoor type double sided tape. The left side of the touchscreen didn’t fully light up until I taped the unit to the backplate because it wasn’t making sufficient contact with it. Since installation, it still says “waiting for update” and can’t display the weather, one of the features I specifically looked for in addition to the time and date display. Otherwise, wiring, setup and registration went quickly and painlessly. It’s a great product when you get one that works and I would still recommend it.Update: the update that I anticipated would happen at the time of installation finally happened the following day. This thermostat is now displaying the weather info.

REALLY liked at first, but had issues over time.
I bought this unit approx. 2 years ago and would say at first that I really loved this unit but I have had issues since. Right before the first year warranty ended the unit started automatically going to 73 degrees. It was weird, no matter what degree I had it set, it would randomly go the 73. Let me back up and say that I know it wasn't a programming issue on my end. I don't even use any of the programming features that change the thermostat in the morning to a certain degree and then again in the afternoon, etc.. I pretty much keep it at 70 degrees all the time. Very seldom change it. With that said, I called that they replaced it, great, no problems. Now about another year out it's doing the exact same thing. All of a sudden it's feeling extra warm in the house and I look on the app of on the wall and see it set to 73 degrees, very odd, but it sucks if I go out of town and bring the temp. down to 66 or so I'm never confident that it will stay that way. I'll be looking at the nest now or other similar options.
