There should be an Amazon 10 star review which is exactly what I would give my new Perkins made knife. It came wrapped carefully and no damage from England shipping. IT has perfect balance and weight and is sharp as a scalpel right from the start. It has a black finish that appears to be nitride...whatever it is it's the perfect touch for this knife since this is not a hanger queen and made to stand up to hard use. The handle is perfectly cut and comes to hand like it was made to do..much better than expected. Overall, I am very pleased with this handsome knife and will buy other Perkins knives in future.

I just received the Perkin hunting knife , it has a bolo-ish style to it , which will make it more practical as a camping , woods knife . It does not have a clunky fill to it and I believe will work well for light chopping needs . Ever try to chop with a straight blade [ k bar ] ? It seems to be a handy tool , ready weapon if need be . The blade is sharpened 21/2" opposite the cutting edge as a combat knife would be , no false edge here .The blade came sharp [ shaved hair off my arm with a few passes on a butchers steel ] whisper sharp . I've no doubt with regular maintenance I will be able to keep it deadly sharp . Just the right length over all , ideal blade length , blade width . A bonus dummy cord hole drilled into the handle , Not clunky , awkward , as some bigger more expensive camp knives . The one draw back is the handle is small to my hands [but I have large hands ] which is easily over come with racket tape and I don't care for dangle sheaths , again easily over come with a ridged belt loop attached [ high quality sheath by the way , my compliments ] I will add a pouch and 6" ferro rod and I will have a great survival/woods/ combat knife . I am happy with my purchase . If I want to fell a tree , split logs I will use the right tool not a knife that isn't meant for that purpose .

This is a well crafted knife. It’s very comfortable in the hands, and looks amazing. The leather sheath does a very good job of securing the blade. The blade did arrive a bit more dull than I’m used to, but a few passes through the sharpener solved that issue. I am concerned that the blade seems a little on the thin side. While this helps make the blade light, I’m concerned as to how well it will hold up under heavy use. Time will tell.UPDATE: I used this knife extensively on a recent camping trip, and it held up very well. I was especially impressed with how sharp it stayed through the abuse. I even tested it with some batoning to split up some fire wood with no issues. Some of the oxide coating started to strip away from the blade, but that’s to be expected. This is my new favorite backwoods knife.

I have no idea what kind of steel the knife is made from but it's definitely NOT 1095 - my guess is some kind of cheap stainless. How do I know this? because after removing the cheap coating of the knife its proven impossible to force a petina on it. 1095 rusts, this knife doesn't, it appears to be made from a cheap stainless steel.The knife has a finish on it similar to duracoat, I don't like this because if you use a stone to sharpen it will gunk it up and its generally not a very nice finish at all. I thought this was done for purposes similar to the k-bar knives to protect the high carbon steel blade, it appears not.Would I buy it again? no way, not for this price.It should not be advertised as a type of steel it clearly isn't, this is deceptive and I feel scammed by the false assertion that it's 1095 steel. I would NEVER have bought this knife had I known this.

I guess if you want a show knife, that looks pretty, this is the knife for you. This knife had no edge. I will have to sharpen it before I can use it, unless I am hunting a stick of butter to skin. I was expecting something much sharper from all the hype they have about it on the page for it. So I bought this from them so it is not a Fake Copy, this knife could not take a hair one off my arm so razor sharp it is not, the hand made leather sheath is very thick and stiff. I bought this based on the web sites claim. Buy KaBar you will be much happier.

Strong/sturdy/capable knife. Decent for bushcraft, but the coating makes it difficult to strike a firerod. Otherwise, an excellent addition to my kit.

Ich schließe mich einigen der vorhergehenden Rezensionen an:Das Messer liegt mit dem Nussholzgriff sehr gut in der Hand, kam zumindest bei mir sehr scharf geschliffen an und macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck. Das macht richtig Spaß. Von der Größe her finde ich es super, nicht zu wuchtig, aber schon eindrucksvoll. Wie ein großes Küchenmesser... Etwas (optisch) störend sind (wirklich kleine, punkförmige ) Unebenheiten in der schwarzen Beschichtung, das geht besser. Nicht optimal ist die Lederscheide, auch wenn manche diese loben. Das Leder ist gut, aber die Naht hat sich bei mir am oberen Rand ohne Beanspruchung gelöst. Und es gibt keine Sicherung, es ist eben nur eine Messertasche. Da habe ich eine bessere Alternative gefunden. Insgesamt gebe ich aber wegen des "Wohlfühlfaktors" 5 Punkte.

Kann mich meinen Vor-Rezensenten nur anschliessen: das Messer kam sehr sicher und hervorragend verpackt bei mir an, sieht gut aus, obwohl eher ganz schlicht und ohne jeden Schnickschnack, es liegt sehr gut in der Hand, ist sehr ausgewogen, sehr schön führig, erstaunlich leicht, aber nicht zu leicht, der sauber gearbeitete Holz-Griff ist perfekt und gut ausgeformt, einAbrutschen erscheint unmöglich.. Die Klinge ist schwarz beschichtet oder brüniert, wirkt sehr stabil, obwohl mit etwa 4mm nicht allzu dick , das Messer ist schon bei Lieferung sehr scharf, auf den ersten 5-6 cm beidseitig (!) geschärft (also Achtung). Alles ist sauber verarbeitet, nichts steht über. Die Lederscheide ist zudem wirklich ein echtes Schmankerl: sehr gut vernäht, superstabil, mit schöner, dunkelbrauner Oberfläche, und das Messer sitzt absolut fest darin, ist aber auch recht schnell und problemlos wieder heraus zu ziehen. Messer und Scheide wirken wie aus einem Guss. Das Ganze hängt locker pendelnd am Gürtel, was gute Bewegungsfreiheit ermöglicht, auch beim Hinsetzen. Wenn ich mich von meinen vielen Messern für nur eines entscheiden müsste würde ich jetzt schon das Perkin ganz ganz vorne ansiedeln, auch wenn ich es in der rauhen Praxis noch nicht erlebt habe. Eine klare Empfehlung nach meinem ersten Eindruck.

for $60 canadian you cant conplane i cannot find out what steel it is comterful seam to hold edge ok looks cool or should say mean i think illkeep it but it wont replace my edc a bk7up date this is o1 tool steel good stuff

Ich habe das Messer nun Ausführlich Getestet, und eines vorweg Ich werde nucht Bezahlt oder sonst etwas Ich mzsste die vollen 59€ Bezahlen. So nun zum Messer: Es kommt Scharf Out of the Box, aber Rasiermesser Scharf o. Ä. Niemals. Es Liegt Gut in der Hand und die Lederscheide ist allein schon das Geld Wert. Zum Spalten von Holz ist es auch Hervorragenden geeignet, was mich Verwundert hat und darum nur 3 Sterne ist das die Spitze sehr Weich ist und Seitliche Kräfte garnicht verkraftet und sich Verbiegt. Alles in allem ein Gutes Messer das auf jeden Fall Gut Funktioniert jedoch noch etwas Zuwendung braucht zwecks Schärfe und beim Hebeln ist Vorsicht Geboten!
