4000 miles and still running strong
I needed a shoe that I could ride for up to 20 hours at a time, every day, over 4 weeks in a recent mountain bike race. I use the xc70 shoes for xc racing and normal riding but I needed something a little bit better for hike a bike sections. The m163 performed well. It is not as comfortable as the xc70...that's like wearing a leather slipper...but it has some nice features. The sole is easy to hike in, good grip and durable but plenty stiff for riding. The uppers wear nicely and the closure system is the standard ratchet system that just works. They breath fairly well...I rode these for over 4000 miles so far in everything from 25 degrees to 104.One nice thing for me is how far back you can set the cleat. In super long races I like the cleat back as far as possible to minimize achilles tendon stress. The only issue I've had is developing a hotspot on the outside on my pinky toe. This was not bad but as I stated, not as comfortable as the xc70's I ride for shorter rides.Overall this is an excellent shoe.

Great Shoes
Ordered size 47, wear a size 11.5 - 13 depending on brand. These shoes look VERY narrow compared to my other street shoes, but fit perfectly in all aspects. They are not so stiff as to be uncomfortable to walk in. Bought these to go with a pair of PD-M785 pedals. Perfect combination! These are my first clip less shoes / pedals, so I have nothing to compare to. I did buy the SH56 SPD Cleat Set as they are supposed to be easier to release than the ones that com with the pedals. So far, I am quite pleased with the shoes, pedals and cleats.

Great mountain bike shoes!
Love these shoes. I typically wear 8.5 men's size shoes but I ordered a half size up and I am glad I did because they fit perfectly with thin cycling socks. Went out for a test ride and the shoes performed flawlessly. No hot spots and no rubbing. Love the strap and buckle system that allows you to ratchet the shoe against the heel. I am using these with Shimano XT PD-M780 pedals and they are a great addition to my mountain bike. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend to other looking for a mountain bike shoe.

Waiting on word of a replacement...
****EDIT*****After 3 months and about 300 miles of pretty standard XC, mix of smooth and mildly technical riding, the sole of one shoe tore out on a ride. Partially separated on one side. I am awaiting word on what the seller or Shimano will do to remedy the sitch.Apparently a new pair of shoes are on their way. After looking closely at both soles, I'm just not convinced this is a unique problem - both are in bad shape and I bet it'll happen again. If the new shoes ever arrive (it's been over a week, luckily I have an old pair of specialized for a race this weekend) I'll sell em cheap and invest in another pair of specialized.Shimano makes some quality bike parts. Shoes are not one of them.***EDIT******EDIT#2*** After waiting two weeks to hear from the seller, I gave up and returned these shoes. Looking for something else, probably going back to Specialized.

Normally wear a 9.5 and ordered a 44, fit exactly as expected for a cycling shoe. Constructed well and expect it to last for many miles of spin class and XC MTB riding.
