Duraflame 9HM8101-O142 Portable Electric Infrared Quartz Heater, Oak

I keep it despite i dont longer needed, as the landlord fixed the heating system same day I received the heaterI was ready to send it back ( never removed from the bx) as i have no need for it, when the boiler stopped working again (old brownstone building) so I unboxed, i was surprised how good it works, for real it heat a room, although it works like a charm in the bedroom, the living room is an open space ( about 600 square feet) still is capable to make the room warm. it raised the thermostat from 64 F to 68F. In the bedroom I needed to turn off as it make it to hot after one hour. The heat system is fixed, but I decided to keep it, as an emergency or side heater. I dont know how much will raise the electrical bill though ( something to keep in mind)

I've had duraflame heaters in the past similar to this model and ran them 24/7 all winter in a large cabin in northern Michigan for 4 years straight. This is year 5 and they're still going.This particular model though has an automatic shutoff if it heats up the plug outlet too much. To use this heater you must have up to date 3 prong outlets.The 3 prong adapters won't work as they heat up, causing the heater to automatically shutoff.Other than that I expect this heater to last as long as the others.TIP.....The backs of these heaters collect alot of dust which causes performance issues. I take the back plate off (easy to do) and vacuum all the dust out. Paying parocular attention to the drum fan which fills with dust and will stop spinning as fast. I do this after 3 months of heavy use and before I put them away in late spring.I've had other brands of heaters that didn't last a month and we're more expensive than these. Its Duraflame or nothing around here. Very dependable.

Update: to my previous review: Customer service from the company itself WAS great! I got a damaged or defective heater and they made it right very promptly and with much courtesy.Customer service from Amazon so far had been horrible. I don't know if I got a defective heater or a damaged one but it barely puts out any heat. It's supposed to heat up to 1,000 sq ft and my room is only 520 sq ft. I can can hold my hand directly in front of the heat outlet without it even getting hot. I can not do that with any other electric heater that I own without burning my hand. It also arrived with the crushed box on 3 sides. When I tried to do a return on Amazon the site says it's non returnable.

I purchased this unit to provide heat in an unheated 3-season room. So far, it has been very reliable and performed just as advertised. We live in Michigan, near Lake Michigan, and our winters tend to be pretty chilly, with a lot of wind off the lake. The remote works very well, and the unit is easy to operate and maintains a very consistent temperature. We have the oak finish, which is an attractive rich medium -oak shade, It matches the other natural wood end tables in the same room very nicely. The unit is relatively compact and easy to move, due to the 'hidden' casters underneath. It is solid and seems to be well constructed. The operation is a little quieter than I expected, and you very quickly get used to the 'background noise' when the unit is operating. The only reason why I gave this 4 stars rather than 5 is because we have only been using it off and on for about a month. I would absolutely recommend it to a friend, and am planning on purchasing a second one to provide some heat to our insulated attached garage.

I was looking for a portable heater to use so I didn't have to run up the electric. I did a lot of researching and reading reviews on others and ended up buying this one. I'm really glad I did. I feel it has a lot of safety features so I can sleep with it on and not worry about fires. It has a nice fan sound to it, which might bother some, but I love it as I can't sleep in total silence. The front vent looks like a fire so it's aesthetically pleasing to look at too. It's also great if you have cats because the top doesn't get warm at all. A great feature when your cat likes to sit on top of it.

this is my third one. The other 2 I use in my sons room and our school room, and I bought a third one for my office. However, this last one I'm having trouble with. Almost every time I come to the office to start it up it keeps reading "ER." I looked it up and says something about not getting enough current or whatever. I keep unplugging it and plugging it back it and after about the third or fourth time it starts working. Other than that have been very happy with the product.

We live in Upstate NY and we have cold winters. We use this in our "sun room" that is roughly 12ftx12ft and is not insulated but is sealed off from weather. We have a German Shepherd and he sleeps out there year round. This heater kept that sun room at a constant 65°F all winter long regardless of how cold it got. We felt great knowing that this heater was keeping him warm enough and we trusted it to run all day even when we were not home. This heater has made our life much easier and removed quite a bit of stress. It is a great feeling knowing that our doggo is in good hands when it is freezing cold outside.

I love this heater. I had one before. It lasted 7 years, maybe more, anyway, i can put it on the floor, (where you want a heater to be placed) and if the kids touch it they do not get burned. (I have a daycare) There is not another portable heater out there that can do this that i have found. It is light weight but it heats up my 500 square foot daycare room so wonderfully! Then when the room is the temperature i chose, it stops heating! (amazing) It starts up again all by itself when the room needs to be heated up again. It is not loud. The kids stand on it to reach things above them. It is sturdy and safe.
