This microphone exceeded my expectations, for the forty dollars or so that this microphone cost I could not have made a better purchase. Recently went to NAB and sampled microphones by other manufactures and found none that could compare at the same price point. Comparable microphones were well over two hundred dollars. I have hooked up the BM-800 to my alto audio board which provides the microphones phantom power requirement and then to my icom 735 ham radio and it works perfectly with my trigger switch. Great improvement to the way my ham radio sounds. I could have bought a heil microphone which would not last or an audio board and a bm-800 which gives me more capability and options at the same price point. The shock mount and windscreen are also a nice addition to the package.

Good quality mic, shame it needs a separate power supply.
First off, you NEED the phantom power-supply, the microphone DOES NOT work without it.Pros:- Very good quality, more than good enough for games, and would probably work for more professional recordings like a podcast.- The shock mount is pretty good qualityCons:- First unit shipped dead- The stand and pop filter are very cheap, the stand requires a LOT of tightening to get it to stay uprightI would recommend just getting the mic, and then getting a separate, nicer stand / pop filter for it.This gets four stars if you can find it on sale.

I """REALLY HATE"""" being robbed. It has the vague feeling of "having been sexually violated'"
Piece of crap. NEVER worked, not even for one second, bought a 5 $ mic to test if the problem was with my computer, the 5 dollar mic worked just fine. What I've come to love best about this pile of junk is, after spending 10's of hundreds, perhaps 10's of thousands of dollars, over the years with Amazon they don't even have the courtesy to give me a reach around . That is, no one said "Sorry lover, we forgot the lube" after screwing me out of my money.I """REALLY HATE"""" being robbed. It has the vague feeling of "having been sexually violated'"

Works fine for me
I am a vocalist, and wanted a condenser mic to record vocals. But condenser mics are pricey. Suddenly, however, I'm seeing these inexpensive Chinese-made mics all over Amazon. And, surprisingly, the reviews are not bad, though maybe people's expectations are low. So I figured it's worth a try. In comparison to my older dynamic mic, this is definitely more crisp and clear. It's also far better at picking up sounds like handclaps, tambourine, and whistling, which just never sounded right with the old mic. I'm not an audiophile, and I don't have nicer condenser mics to compare this with, but I am happy with it so far. My recordings do sound better and I'm enjoying using it.(Incidentally, I am running mine through a Focusrite iTrack USB interface, which *does* have the phantom power you need to make this mic work. You have to remember to press the 48v button on the front or you won't get enough volume. But once you do it works perfectly.)

Just didn't work.
Item didn't work the way I expected. No audio was outputted and I was using +48v of phantom power. Looks nice and I guess it can be used to bludgeon someone or just as decoration.

Impressive!
I never had a condenser microphone like this. I plugged it into the 48 volt phantom power device I bought and the sound is AMAZING. Very impressed. I bought it somewhat on a whim to see what an inexpensive "Professional Studio Broadcasting" microphone would sound like and was blown away. Is it as good as this professional mic?http://www.amazon.com/Electro-Voice-Microphone-Shockmount-Two-Section-Broadcast/dp/B00U1S4YY4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1443986607&sr=8-1&keywords=electro-voice+microphoneProbably not, even though I've never tried the Electro-Voice. But it's $20 not $500.

Low Cost; High Quality!
Professional sounding studio microphone at a fraction of the cost of other quality recording microphones. Well made; durable, I already plan to purchase more Excelvan® microphones for my studio recording projects. Just one important thing to know--not that it lessens my review of this item overall--is that the Excelvan® BM-800 is a condenser microphone and as such it requires a power source like a mixer with phantom power or a direct-box.
