The powerful joule GPS+ is your ultimate resource for cycling metrics. Power tap's newest cycling computer acquires GPS in the blink of an eye, seamlessly connects directly to the powerful mobile App for automated ride downloads and comes with an eye-catching power tap Orange back case. Using the powerful mobile App the GPS+ gives you freedom to choose between ANT+ or Bluetooth smart without having to think about it. Later in 2015, the joule GPS+ will be ready to pair directly to Bluetooth smart sensors such as heart rate straps and speed/cadence sensors.

It does look like this current version has a modest improvement on the ...
The product displayed and described is wrong. THIS IS NOT THE POWERTAP JOULE GPS +. It is the previous version which does not sync wirelessly to the mobile app. When you open the box and examine the actual computer it is obvious that what you bought and what you got is not the same thing. The image in the add clearly displays the Powertap Joule +, Alas, the device you get is not. I have the original version of the Powertap Joule which unfortunately had one of the plastic prongs on the back crack off making it virtually unusable, since it will not lock into the bike mount anymore. It does look like this current version has a modest improvement on the design of the bike mount making it perhaps less likely to experience failure. The actual programming of the device is somewhat "clunky" to pair the device and input the wheel size etc. This has not changed from my existing device. Despite those flaws, once programmed, the Powertap Joule actually works well as a bike computer. By purchasing this "new" version, I was hoping to replace my old version and gain additional functionality of syncing my rides to the mobile app by way of Bluetooth. If this is what you are looking for, do not purchase this device Amazon does have the Powertap Joule GPS + listed with other sellers at about 90 dollars more, I suspect that what you get is the actual upgraded computer for the additional money. If you don't care about bluetooth connectivity, this computer may serve your needs assuming the bike mount is not prone to the same failure I experienced.

Unreliable and not user friednly.
Seriously unreliable. My first one broke when I hit a bump in the road. The screen just turned off and never came back on again. Power Tap replaced it only for the unit to stop communicating with my laptop. That unit was returned fixed but during the winter here and sat on a shelf until recently when I tried using it only to find that it once again does not connect to my laptop. For $250 I expected something more reliable. On top of that the mapping is pretty bad and not easy to follow while riding, the power agent software is ugly and not user friendly and it takes an age to pick up a GPS signal. Avoid.

Not bad.. much better routing functions than Edge 500
Not bad.. much better routing functions than Edge 500. The screen is a little larger and a bit easier to read than Edge 500, but it is less customizable. Locks into GPS satellite and Ant+ sensors, Power meter quickly.
