🔧 Elevate Your Craft: Precision Meets Performance!
The Forstner Bit Depth Stop Kit is an essential tool for woodworkers, designed to accommodate forstner bits and other styles up to 2-1/8" in diameter. It includes three bushings for shank diameters of 3/8", 7/16", and 9/16", ensuring versatility. The depth stop features a built-in bearing that keeps it motionless while the bit spins, preventing any marking or burning of the wood. (Note: Forstner bit and wood not included.)

Great investment!
Depth stop set works great. Nice ballbearing stop.

good concept but failed to deliver
A good concept but had to return this kit because of a few things. The grey cone that accepts the bushings was defective and malformed and didn’t allow for proper drilling to depth - placing the cone on a flat surface showed considerable wobble. Clearly the molding of this main part was not quality checked. Without this the rest of the set won’t work correctly. The bushings should be just a fraction larger than the actual desired drill bit - poor tolerances - when I used my 1/4” forstner it would not set correctly in the bushing because the set screw kept pushing it to one side. All of my forstner bits shank are not the same size. The larger bits have the same size shank from “end to just before the bit head” but the smaller bits have a step down just before the bit head making that part of the shank smaller. This caused a problem when using the smaller bits because the set screw would push the shank in the collar making it uneven.Nothing is marked on the bushings or the box insert so it’s hard to determine which to use other than trying them to see if they fit the shank of the chosen bit.The only instructions for this are in the side of the max package. It wasn’t the most intuitive and took me a long time to figure out how to attach everything. Then I questioned if it was right.Had the cone been molded and not uneven, I would have likely kept the set and dealt with the inability to use my smaller forstner bits - or not since it’s likely not having a good working all around tool wouldn’t go far in using.

Does the job
I needed this bit to remove 1/16 of an inch off the holes in my cabinet doors so that I could install soft close hinges, so for me this will probably only get used once.It does the job, but you still need to make sure that you hold your drill perfectly perpendicular to the surface or you won't get a flat bottom hole. Although the bushing fits snug in collar, once you add the bit on the drill there is still some play that allows you to drill on an slight angle. You'll need to check the depth and drill again holding the drill at a different angle to get the high side.In my case, I should have used the money I spent on this and invested in a drill press that I could use for other projects as well.

It works as expected!

The tolerances could be better. The jigs dont fit true around your drill ...
Does the job just make sure to tighten down the set screw tight because if it slips you will drill straight through you wood. The tolerances could be better. The jigs dont fit true around your drill bit. after attaching the bit you could play eye spy through the gap in between the bit and the sleeve with your children.
