they are like a great fitting glove
I have owned several pairs of Danner. Two Ft. Lewis (insulated) and two Acadia, prior to this purchase. They are my work boots. My oldest pair are 25years old, then 21, 17, and 10. The two oldest pair were worn on duty and then for training, when I replaced them with the other two (one Ft. Lewis and one Acadia). The newer of the four pair are still wearable but starting to show their age. I bought this pair (5th pair, which are Acadia’s), to hopefully carry me out to retirement (8 more years). Other than the quality, you can have these resoled. In the long term, the boots pay for themselves. One of the down sides to Danner boots is that they are heavy, compared to other name brand boots. But you are getting quality. And being this is all I have worn, in my 25 years of service, I don’t know anything else except that my boots last longer than my fellow workers, who buy different name brand boots. Another issue, is the break in period. It is a pain in the .....rear. You will cuss them for awhile, but once they break in, they are like a great fitting glove.Attached is my boots. I still use the older pair for training and the newer pair, for my daily work use.

THE Duty Boot of Duty Boots
This is the tried and true boot from when cops were cops. They are the best looking boots on the market and last forever. They can be resoled, and they will need it after about a year and a half, but the upper will last forever. One crusty lifer I work with is still using his same pair from 15 years ago. With these boots, if you kick something, it stays kicked unlike many ultralight non-waterproof models out there.Downside: The airthotic insert is comfortable, but will begin to crack after a few months. You will need to replace the insert probably yearly to be safe.Upside: They look fantastic in uniform. They last forever.Verdict: Pony up the cash and buy them.

Stop debating and just buy them! You won't regret it!
If you are debating on buying this boot or another boot, just get this boot! You will not be disappointed. I've had these boots for about three months now and I absolutely love them. Here is my experience with them.Prior to buying the Acadia boot, I was wearing the Danner Kinetic GTX boot in size 11.5. Using my superb observation skills, I determined that I should probably order the same size in the Acadia boots because my Kinetic GTX boots fit really well. However, what I did not account for was extra width to accommodate my custom orthotic (for plantar fasciitis). These boots do not come with a removable insole, therefore you need to order one size wider than what you'd usually wear to account for the space taken up by the orthotic. An 11.5 2E allowed me to use my custom orthotic insert, yet still felt absolutely perfect from a comfort and fit standpoint. If you are one of those people who do not need any support inside of your boot, I'd still recommend wearing these boots in one size wider than what you'd normally wear, unless you like very snug boots. These boots took me between one and two months to break in for full comfort. In addition to just wearing them to break them in, I used Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP (Leather Protectant) to help soften and protect the leather. The leather on my boots not only feels soft, but I've noticed the leather is more flexible. So far, I've used these boots in cooler weather, warmer weather, and wet conditions. I've had no issues at all. I'm about to embark on an Arizona summer in these and I'll update this review based upon how the boots felt in extreme heat. Overall though, I feel like these boots would protect my feet from just about anything I'd come across while at work. These boots are not designed for running, however. The couple of times I've had to run in them, they feel clunky and heavy. That being said, I have yet to feel exhausted in these boots while wearing them for periods of 10-16 hours at a time.Other boots I considered getting instead of these boots included: Danner Kinetic GTX (yes, a second pair because they were comfortable), Bates Durashocks, Rocky Paraboots, and Under Armour Stellar and Valstetz boots. When it came down to it, I chose the Acadia boots based upon the highly positive reviews, their ability to be resoled, their durability, and their comfort. Not that the other boots were bad, but each of them had one or more aspects of their boots which could not match the Acadia's reputation.

Perfect Duty Boot! Just order a wide size!!!
Normally wear an 11.5 and an 11 is almost too big... also be forewarned- like other reviewers have said, unless you have a narrow foot go with a wide width on this boot! Other than that, I have nothing negative to say, perfect boot for duty use, especially standing/walking for long periods on concrete floors. I've gone through several sneaker type boots (I.e. 5.11 ATAC, Rocky's, Nike, Under Armour, cabelas) over five years and usually got 8-12 months on each... never wanted to drop money on these acadia's thinking they'd be too lunky and uncomfortable. I was wrong! They are a bit heavier than my 8" 5.11's but not that noticeable, they have better traction and feel like a much sturdier boot with a lot more support in the ankles. They do need a little breaking in as they are stiff out of the box but most boots are... I've also had nothing but bad luck with side zipper boots so that was a plus for me with these. I haven't worn them in wet or cold conditions yet, but I don't see that being a problem. Slap a little Danner Boot Dressing on 'em first thing then repeat every 6 months and you'll be good to go... Between the cost of the boot and the recraftability, if I can get 5 or more years out of these boots like other reviewers have said, it'll save money in the long run and I'll be wearing acadia's for the rest of my career.

Owned Them For Six Years..!!!
These are by far the best boots that I have ever owned. According to my FitBit, they have just over 300 miles on them over the last six years. They still look new—Amazing..!! Soles are great and look new because the majority of the time I am wearing them in the field.Redwing and Irish Setter boots are nothing but Chinese junk. I have returned separate pairs for warranty repairs. Which they honor with more Chinese junk. They won’t answer my calls. If I would have spent the additional funds for Danner Boots, I would still be wearing them all.I am currently preparing to purchase another pair of boots—Danner Made in the USA, of course. Looking to get a pair for chainsawing (no steel toe).

Very nice boots but order a half size smaller than usual
I have several other pairs of Danner boots and the Acadia's are a half size bigger than any other Danner boot that I have. I take an 11EE and with these I had to go to a 10.5EE and they fit perfectly. Boots broke in really nicely over a cpl days. One of the most comfortable duty boots I've owned and I've tried almost every brand. These boots are quality made and I can easily see them out lasting any other pair of boots by yrs. With Under Armor boots I was lucky to wear them a yr before they were done. My last pair of Danner Acadia's lasted 12 yrs. Yes, they are expensive but they are cheaper in the long run.

So far these have been great boots. They are comfortable
So far these have been great boots. They are comfortable, light, and not hot. Found that even when wearing them in 35c weather my feet remained comfortable.I bought these because my plan is for these to be the last boots I own when I retire ( in 8 years!) The fact that they are recraftable means that if I care for them properly these boot could last the remainder of my career. The cost factor is far more reasonable that buying new boots every year.

Measure your foot, check the size charts.
Comfortable, though a tad rigid. Still, I need to break them in. I wear a size 9 Timberland so I got a size 8. I measured my foot and corresponded with the sizing chart. The length is perfect, even just enough room for my thick wool socks, but with or without the wool socks they fit comfortably. They are a very narrow boot. I got the EE (Wide) and they are quite narrow. Some would say I have a wide foot but still, these boots fit very narrow. Overall, construction looks great, and I believe I will be very pleased with this purchase.

2nd pair..
These boots are the best. Not only are they uniform quality, but Acadias can be worn in the rugged terrain of the southern Okanagan in British Columbia everyday for at least 2yrs and still be cleaned, dressed(a must for boots) to looking stylish for casual night on the town. I fall trees, hike, camp, hunt, play street hockey and footy with my son, where them every day all day!I'm ordering a second pair not out of need but because...well the economy ain't looking so good lol. Anyway EXCELLENT BOOTS!!! get em while ya can.
