WELL WHEN RZA MAKES A SOUNDTRACK YOU KNOW ITS GOING TO BE OF WU-TANG MATERIAL AND THIS SOUNDTRACK IS GREAT.RZA ALSO USES HIS ALTER EGO BOBBY DIGITAL TO RAP AS WELL AS HE DOES ON OTHER TRACKS. THERE ARE DIFFERENT APPEARANCES FROM A NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT I DIDNT KNOW BUT THIS SOUNDTRACK IS SOMETHING WORTH HAVING IF U ARE A WU-TANG FAN!!

The series was amazing and this soundtrack complements it with style RZA should be proud one of his best works yet as a producer and artist. if anyone hasn't seen Afro Samurai trust me when i say its short with only 5 episodes made but its well worth watchin.

I made a terrible mistake when I bought this album - I bought the clean version, not realising such a thing exists. But here it is, and if you check it actually informs you of this right next to the album title. It's worth paying a bit more for the Japanese version. This is edited to the point where I thought my record player had broken, some tracks butchered so as to be unintelligible.If you buy Wu affiliated material the voices are obviously a big draw so to have them cut up and chopped and censored ruined the album for me.So maybe double check which version you want first.Other than that, if you love Wu you'll dig this too.

After buying and watching the box set of the directors cut of Afro Samurai, I decided that I would have to complete my collection with the soundtrack (I'm a sucker for limited edition releases, soundtracks etc.) and I have to say I wasn't disappointed.I'll begin with the high points:- Excerpts from speech in the series feature in some of the tracks, which is a nice touch.- tracks like 'Certified Samurai', 'Cameo Afro' and a few others are great standalone tracks.- Plenty of collaborative artists alongside RZA make each track at least a little unique.- Value: 25 tracks for £9.99 isn't bad, especially if you want to buy the CD as a collectors item as well as for the music. Of course, if you don't want the CD, the album is offered in mp3 format for £6.99, with individual tracks available for £0.79 each.There are, though, the inevitable low points:- The intro of this series is very short in comparison to others, but 29 seconds was really less than I expected. I would actually have preferred a little careful looping to extend the, otherwise very good, track.- This doesn't really count as a low point for me, but it's useful to note that several of these tracks are orchestral instrumentals. As I said, not a low point for me, but with so much emphasis on the soundtrack being by RZA, I think people could easily assume that it's all hip-hop.- Some of the tracks don't work that well outside of the actual show (repetitive instrumentals that are effective as background music, but don't work that well on their own)Overall a good soundtrack, worth buying the full album as there are enough good tracks to make it more cost-effective to buy the whole thing as opposed to individual tracks.

Ob auf langen Autofahrten,Keller Partys oder einfach so ist die Ost zur Serie Afro Samurai ist überall gut einsetzbar. Die meisten Lieder sind Zeitlos und werden nie langweilig. 25 Tracks die ein Fan im Regal oder Handschuhfach haben sollte. Das CD Design ist wesentlich schlichter als das der Ost Fortsetzung Afro Samurai Resurrection was aber nicht unbedingt ein negativer Effekt ist, hier ist die Geschmacksache des Einzelnen gefragt aber von den Stücken ist die OST CD mindestens genau so gut wie Ihr nachfahre.

The Rza was the right person to do, not just the score for the Afro Samurai movie, but also the soundtrack.One of the best producers of all-time period, not just in Hip-Hop. He shows on the soundtrack, why Kanye West, Ninth Wonder, Just Blaze and many other known/unknown Hip-Hop producers influenced their style of producing music. The R&B songs aren't produced by Rza. The two songs by Wu-Tang affiliates Stone Mecca--'OH' and 'THE WALK' is produced by the late Rick James's son that goes by the name TRUE JAMES--as he's also affiliated with the Wu-Tang Clan. The other R&B song called 'BABY' is produced by M1. J-Love, the official mixtape producer/DJ for the Wu-Tang Clan also helps in the producing for the song 'INSOMNIA'. The soundtrack is solid--DON'T SLEEP ON IT!!! WATCH THE MOVIE TOO!!!

J'écoute cet album lorsque je relis mes mangas d' Afro Samurai. C'est un très bon album surtout si on est fan de la série, déjà culte il finira certainement comme collector alors foncez !Dans un Japon médiéval décalé (futuriste), le jeune Afro assiste au meurtre de son père par le détenteur du bandeau de numéro 2. Ces bandeaux sont une sorte de récompense ultime, pour le combattant. Ces bandeaux, selon la légende, auraient été créés par les dieux eux mêmes. Le détenteur du bandeau numéro 1 est donc ainsi considéré comme l'égal de dieu et ne peut être défié que par le bandeau numéro 2 (qui, lui, peut se faire défier par n'importe qui). Afro part alors à la recherche de l'assassin de son père pour le venger.

The afro Samurai sound track is great from start to finish like the television series total mayhem and i mean that in a good whay.From the diversaty in the beats to the perfect insane mixing by the RZA like only he can do which is very interesting about him when he does soundtracks he clearly take it to another level.One thing is certain with his beats and mixing he is second to none he clearly show's everyone he's an absolute BEAST!! pick this up and every other soundtrack the RZA does.

Wu-Mastermind RZA hat zuletzt ein paar mal als Verantwortlicher für die Vertonung von Filmen auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. Nach seinem schon jetzt legendärem "Ghost Dog" Score folgten "Kill Bill", "Blade Trinity"...und nun die kurzteilige Animeserie "Afro Samurai" mit Samuel L. Jackson in der Sprecherhauptrolle.Und eines vorweg: Es ist nicht einfach diese Scheibe zu beurteilen.Doch erstmal ein paar Facts: Satte 25 Anspielstationen wurden der Scheibe spendiert, davon sind 4 "Bobby Digital Bonus Tracks" und 10 rein instrumentale Stücke. Bis auf 4 Tracks hat RZA an jedem der Stücke selbst Hand angelegt. Soweit so zerfahren. Hier liegt denn auch leider der Hund begraben: Wie geht man an das Album ran? Es ist ein Soundtrack und besitzt entsprechend instrumentale (häufig kurze) Stücke. Aber die Analyse von Filmscores ist nicht primär die Absicht dieser Review und so muss nunmal der HipHop Ansatz gewählt werden. Bei dieser Perspektive wiederum wirken die instrumentale Stücke fast wie ein großer Haufen an Skits. Über deren musikalischen Wert will ich hier nicht reden und auch soll der instrumentale Ansatz nicht in die Wertung einfließen zumal nicht alle Instrumentals jetzt auch mit Beats versehen wurden sondern "richtige" Filmmusik darstellen. Also konzentrieren wir uns nur auf die reinen vollwertigen Stücke mit Vocals. In der Hinsicht kann das Album kaum einen besseren Start hinlegen: Sowohl "Certified Samurai" mit einem wie immer glänzendem Talib Kweli und "Just a lil Dude" mit Q-Tip und einem leider schwer nach Jay-Z klingendem Free Murder sind schwer dopes Futter welches gerade WU-Jüngern Lust auf mehr macht. RZAs Produktion legt hier die Messlatte schon hoch und zeigt einmal mehr das Gespür des Abotts für shaolineske Atmosphäre. Weitere äußerst gelungene Stücke sind dann "Who is tha Man" und "Cameo Afro" bei dem sich Oldschool-Legende Big Daddy Kane und der formidable GZA die Klinke in die Hand geben. Bei " Take Sword pt. I" dann bringt RZA seine Stimme mal wieder in hochdramatische Gefilde wie man es schon bei Wu-Tracks wie "Tearz" oder "I can't go to sleep" hören konnte. Der Mann kann Emotionen wie kaum ein zweiter transportieren.Zweifelsfrei mit meilemweiten Abstand den Hit der Platte stellt dann "Fury in my Eyes/Revenge" dar. RZAs Produktion hat hier ein wirklich interessantes wie künstlerisch hochwertiges Niveau erreicht welches derzeit absolut außer Konkurrenz ist. Lass Timbo doch den Pop der Stunde, Kanye aus Altem was Neues machen oder Scott Storch, Just Blaze o.ä. die Hitfließbandarbeiter repräsentieren. Mit dem Track hat RZA einmal mehr seine Einzigartigkeit unterstrichen und gezeigt, was für ein Genie noch in dem Mann schlummert. Instrumentierung, Melodien, Arrangement, der Gesang von Thea, alles atmet diesen unglaublichen, modernen Samuraifilmvibe. Dieses Stück hat Kultpotenzial und reiht sich nahtlos in die kleine Reihe sehr exzellenter RZAstücke für Filme ein(man denke an "Samurai Showdown" von Ghost Dog oder an seinen Track auf dem "Blade Trinity" OST).Wäre es das mit dem Album gewesen wäre ne hohe Wertung sicher, doch leider gibts ja noch so viel an Mittelmaß. Gleich drei waschechte RnB Tracks haben sich mit raufgeschlichen, was vielleicht im Hinblick auf die Serie Sinn macht(Afro verliebt sich bestimmt hier und da mal in ne Frau...), dem Soundtrack aber noch mehr den Charakter einer Compilation mit Filmmusikbonus verleiht. Mit dem Song "Baby" findet sich sogar ein Song mit dem man locker die Top 10 stürmen könnte(mit entsprechendem Schöner-Sänger-schöne-Frauen-Bettgeschichten-hochglanz-Drama-Video natürlich). Bei "Take Sword pt. II" ist dieser halbe Vodoovortrag vom 60 Second Assasin(so wie man ihn eigentlich kennt) doch etwas nervig auch wenns zur abgehangenen Atmosphäre durchaus passt. Und die Hälfte der Bobby Digital Bonustrack hätte man sich getrost sparen können, die andere Hälfte ist immerhin ordentlich.Es gilt: Sowohl als Soundtrack als auch als HipHop-Release stellt der "Afro Samurai" OST eine "Nicht Fisch, nicht Fleisch" Angelegenheit dar: Weder als Soundtrack, noch als Compilation oder Rapalbum macht das Ding in seiner Gesamtheit viel Sinn und die Durschnittlichkeit der Hälfte der vokalisierten Tracks macht die Sache nicht besser. Leider stehen dem gegenüber eine Handvoll guter bis exzellenter Lichtschimmer die zwar die Wertung vor dem Keller bewahren, aber alleine sicher für mehr Intensität und Hörgenuss gesorgt hätten. Ob ich nun "Fury in my Eyes" deswegen hätte? Nein. Aber mehr wäre auf jeden Fall drin gewesen.
