It's not much but it seems to be all we've got
This books serves as an adequate introduction and it will get you up and running but that is all. Now I realized Catia v6 is a vast subject, I mean, you can design a huge complex passenger aircraft in it and have an entire team of engineers working simultaneously on the same parts...but it does seem a bit disappointing that even as important a subject as Booleans isn't even touched on, doesn't even exist in the index. And that is exactly what I'm trying to learn right now. It's not easy since before you can execute the boolean commands (which in themselves are straightforward enough), you have to take the individual pads you're going to add or subtract and transform them into separate bodies in the tree, which I haven't been able to figure out how to do yet.I can figure out how to do it in Solidworks which since it is also a Dassault product looks and feels very similar. But comparing Solidworks to Catia v6 is a bit like comparing your housecat to a Bengal tiger.Even the very comprehensive MCE video tutorials and the documentation don't really explicitly show you how to do this..Actually I have to edit this to note that on P.149 it does show you how to insert body which is essential to carrying out a Boolean function so it's actually worth it. Well there's no other competition out there so there's not much choice...

Feedback for CATIA V6 Essentials
Hello ladies and gents,to be honest I was a little bit disappointed after going through the CATIA V6 Essentials.1. The book gives a good overview how to work with CATIA V6 from the point of the CAD system, which is to 95% the same like it is known from CATIA V5.--> So nothing new2. The most essential changes are the PLM infrastructure, work in collaboration, new PLM features and look alike which are not mentioned in this book in a detailed way or missing at all. From a book with the title "CATIA V6 Essentials" I expect this, otherwise the CAD User is better supported with the actual CATIA V5 "How to use" literature.I hope that there is a follow up on this essentials dealing with the core of the new functionalities described above.Actually the book is nothing new on the market and I cannot recommend it to get a first glance at what will be upcoming for regarding CATIA V6.Best regardsPaul Kammhuber
