Peavey Power Slide - Ivory

It's a lot of electric slide for the money. It is best suited for rock and blues, but it can pass for country music as well. I changed the strings when I got it, and that made a world of difference in the tone. I can't see changing anything on it for now. Everything seems to work fine. I purchased a couple of different steel slides (Stubbs SP2 and a "Lap Dawg"), from Amazon, and I find they work better than the Peavey factory supplied slide. The factory slide is somewhat thick, rolled steel(?) stamping: Chromed, and it is too light for extended practice sessions. I am a complete novice to the slide guitar, but I am learning how to play this Power Slide; and I am having fun doing it! My wife picked the color (I listen to her on picking the color(s) of my musical instruments. She always picks the color that looks best in person, and has not been wrong yet.). I might buy another in the future, just to have ready another slide guitar in a different tuning. These are that affordable. I find that the quality is way above and beyond the price of this instrument. I am glad I bought it!

I love the design of this guitar and the tone is awesome to have a coil knob to go from single coill to humbucking and everything in between is nice. I tuned mine to C6 which is from bass string to high C E G A C E and that low E note is tuned up to C. I'm pretty sure it comes with G open tunings gage strings on it (15-36 gage set) and it has held this tuning nicely for a week and a half without retuning. Crisp single coil highs and rumbling humbucking sound. The C6 tuning is country Western swing type sound but you can use any open tuning to play blues and rock if you want that sound. Worth the money for sure on this instrument.

Ok, this thing lives up to the hype. The fit and finish is that of much more expensive instruments. The tones you can get are great. The tuners have a nice ratio and it keeps tune well. Mine also came with a guitar cable! The steel that comes with it is a little cheesy and the gig bag isn't anything to crow about but where it counts this thing shines! The instrument itself is in a class with much more expensive lap steels. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a lap steel.

There is no better instrument to start learning slide guitar than with this Power Slide guitar. You don't have to do any set up since it is designed for this playing style. The sound is great and feel is perfect. It's a looker and a bit flashy but its ok with me. The best thing about it is ... it is very affordable and it comes with free Peavey slide bar, gig bag, and strap. The only downside is the strap's brittle plastic buckle easily got broken. Oh well, I will just sew the strap fixed.

Unit plays OK, but has some quality issues. There are a few minor scratches in the chrome and a few nicks in the body. I removed a small loose screw that was stuck to one of the magnetic pickups.

I purchased this guitar to play standing up. Unfortunately, I could not get the guitar to remain stable. I decided to use a tall stand and purchase a more traditional lap steel. You may have better luck.

I got this - stickers all over it = someone else returned it. SOOO noisy when you amp it up. Too bad. Peavy is a good brand - owned their amps/other products for years.

I was skeptic about a Lap Steel at this price, but it has a wicked nice sound especially with overdrive. The slide bar that comes with it is decent, I replaced mine with a solid metal bar, it's a little cleaner. But the 3-point strap is nice when you want to get up and jam, No table needed. A welcome addition.

Very nice slide guitar at an unbeatable price. Some hardware is not of the highest quality but hey, you get the guitar, strap, tone bar and cord in the package! Ready to roll right out of the box. The electronics are very good, we can tone the sound of the pickup with one knob. Excellent purchase.

I received my order today for my Peavey Powerslide Steel/Electric/Dobro Guitar - Red! very impressed with the look etc. this being my first slide guitar! I can not make any other comments other than I could have done with An instruction Book or at least where I can get one? To get me started.Murray

great delivery service but I was disappointed with the finish on the plastic scratch board.the sounds you can produce makes up for that.

If you are starting to play guitar and have chubby fingers the powerslide will give you earlier success. Placing this instrument on a table surface is the best way to start. For players of all levels it is a load of fun, the sounds which can be achieved from the humbucker pick-up are amazing and exciting. Look up Nelly Niel on youtube a steel guitarist, that will get the juices flowing.
