An encouraging and insightful journey through the foundations and seasons of our lives
In 7-Mile Miracle, Pastor Steven Furtick pulls creative illustrations and eternal perspective from a few moments and encounters in the life of Jesus and relates them to our lives, no matter what season we are currently in.Whether you are just beginning to search out the principles of Christianity or you have been a Christian for decades, this book will bring wisdom, encouragement, and perspective to your life.I expected the book to have a pretty narrow focus from the title, but I’ve found it to be very broad in its lessons of Jesus’ life and very encouraging and motivational to encourage each of us to move forward to become who Christ wants us to be and to follow the path He is calling us to follow. The 7 “mile markers” covered within this book are:1. Forgiveness2. Salvation3. Relationship4. Abandonment5. Distress6. Triumph7. ReunionThese are all pulled from the last 7 statements of Jesus on the cross and I would consider these “mile markers” fundamental foundations, moments, or seasons that all of us will face if we choose to follow Christ with our lives. Of course in his typical clever way, Steven takes a 7 mile walk that Jesus took with 2 of His followers after His resurrection and 7 statements that He makes on the cross to create and title these “mile markers”.Steven has a definite passion and skill to make the Bible and the stories and principles within it come to life and reach the hearts of his readers and listeners. This book is full of personal stories, Biblical stories, and illustrations from the lives of others.Ultimately this book will take you on a journey to seek God, get your heart right, trust Him, follow Him, and stand firm and overcome through all you face in life. This book is very simple in its teachings, but extremely important lessons for every Christian to live by. It would be a book I would feel comfortable giving to someone no matter what their current understanding of Christianity is. (HINT: Give it as gift. The message is great)While I give the book 5 stars, the sermon series is even better. Be sure to look up the sermon series under the same name by Steven Furtick and watch it or listen to it. Both the book and the sermon series will bless you, encourage you, and open your eyes to see God in your life in a way that you may have never experienced.

This book is more than you think...
This book got me. At first, I approached it with a "this is kind of simple" attitude. Then the Spirit got a hold of me. This book is phenomenal. Easy read, and if you are a person who knows the story of Christ being hung on the cross, it seems easy and obvious. But once I opened in prayer....my world changed. I cried, I rejoiced, I felt whole. I will be reading this one again!

Still Reading
I am a huge fan of Furtick, but not a huge fan of sitting down to read. I have recently read a couple of his books and this one is the only one that didn't keep me drawn in. It is well written, but most books I can't put down until I'm finished and with this one I still haven't finished it.

A fresh idea on an overlooked journey
I understand that Pastor Furtick is a controversial person. I do not attend his church, nor even live on his side of the country. I don't have to agree with someone, to learn something from that person. That preamble said, I enjoyed this book, and learned a lot from the viewpoint Furtick came from in discussing this 7 mile journey to Emmaus. I do disagreement with Furtick's use of "Abandonment" versus "Forsaken" at Calvary. I believe Christ was forsaken, he was never abandoned, but that is IMHO.Since reading this book I have set out on my Fitbit to log 7 miles in a day and consider that journey of Cleopas and his companion. What might have the complaints been, the sorrows, complaints, challenges and what the response most likely was. I enjoyed the spiritual exercise as well as the miles of contemplation.

Faith in spades.
It's a good book. I keep up with Steven on Instagram. He's got the fire, but his mega-churchiness goes a little too off the deep end for my taste. The book is poignant and has heart. It may be laid out for a first timer in the faith but the gold nuggets make it a worthwhile read. Steven's jacked into the source!

An in depth look at the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
So Jesus said a few things on the cross. Pastor Furtick takes us through all 7 "words" in great depth, tying it all in with the works of His life and many of the prophecies of the old testament. It's teaching from start to finish with dozens and dozens of scripture references to support the teaching. This isn't a book I think I can get by reading just once. Now that I've read it through, I can go back, read t again and take detailed notes and answer all the questions that pastor furtick asks at the end of each chapter.I really enjoyed this book. I think you will too.

Buen libro, claro y conciso
