Holmes Portable Desktop Heater with Comfort Control Thermostat and Cool-Touch Housing, HFH111T-NU

I bought this (identical picture, identical watts, identical controls) ORDER PLACED December 9, 2010 TOTAL $19.99.That's copied right out of my Amazon account (Your Orders). Worked well then broke and I ordered it again: ORDER PLACED February 2, 2014 TOTAL $23.36. Still identical and worked until Dec 2018. The 2014 one was Holmes HFH111T-U Desktop Heater Fan with Comfort Control Thermostat. All 1500 Watt heaters put out exactly the same amount of heat (I studied physics) So look around. I'm about to try this one: Andily Space Heater Electric Heater for Home and Office Ceramic Small Heater with Thermostat, 750W/1500W for $23.99.

I've had this this heater in my office for 6yrs+ and it has been a great companion. Finally, after 6 warm years together, it finally decided it had had enough. I order another just like it the same day it stopped working, and Amazon had the new one to me the very next day. This is a great heater to keep under a desk at work. It might be a little louder than some others out there, but for $20 and 6yrs+ of heat, you can't beat it. And honestly, it just helps to drown out some of the office noise.

I'll tell you something. This heater is awesome. For one room, and a big saving in terms of power, this is it. This will not heat even a moderately large sized home of 1000 square feet. It will adequately do a room of 100 square feet.Can I hear the fan? Yes, thankfully. I tested it tipping over. Did the heater shut off? Yes. It's safe. Sturdy construction as well.I used to have an old Holmes heater from 1996. Eventually they fail. That gave about 15 years of service. If this heater is like the last, I'll be cozy in the winter until 2031.Right off the bat, I give it a 5 star rating. Excellent.

I have owned several different kinds of electric space heaters because my home is poorly insulated. I've tried ceramic, convection, radiators, and even quartz tube. This little guy puts out more heat in a shorter time than any other electric space heater. I can put it on the floor of my 12x13 bedroom in the winter and it will go from low 50s to mid 70s in about 25 mins! Only a propane or gas heater can beat that.My first one of these is 3 years old and still working. In November, my furnace died and I did not have the money to repair it so I bought two more of these. They went through 3 months of semi-continuous use heating 3 rooms while I had other heaters keeping the other rooms warm. Two other electric convection heaters died trying to keep up, my quartz heater could only keep the smallest room warm, and the radiator took an hour to warm up a room.This heater was the only one that could do the job consistently and was the one of cheapest of the lot, and I love the safety feature on the new model that turns it off when tipped over.Electric space heaters will murder your electric bill, but this one's ability to heat the room quickly is second to none. From a customer who has owned many electric space heaters, this one provides the most bang for the buck.

I use this in my daughters room. I bought it for her room because the house we rent has bad air circulation and gets freezing upstairs. I live around Chicago, so we get some very cold nights!As first time parents, putting a heater in my infant child's bedroom over night was a terrifying idea. After using it for a while to get the right temperature and test safety features, I was confident I could put it in her room. Made space where it goes and I don't let anything close to it if it is out.This heater is still going strong. Works just like it did when I got it, keeps my daughter warm at night while I can sleep without worrying that it will cause any harm to her. I couldn't ask anything more of a heater. Plus it puts out good heat for how small it is.

Well so much for that theory...I just returned the second defective unit. The first one would just stop blowing air and continue to heat, giving off a burning smell. I returned that one (Amazon was great by the way) and was sent a second unit. I plugged that unit in and the fan immediately made a dreadful grinding sound so that one is being sent back now too. Moving onto another brand.

Compared with other space heaters in this price range, this one looked kind of rinky-dink and plasticky in the product description page on Amazon. So I was a little hesitant about getting it.But, when I unboxed it took it out and turned it on, I was impressed by the immediate blast of warm air coming out of it. It was a really cold day that day when I turned it on and it was nice.What sets us apart from both the heater that it's replacing (which recently broke), and another one that we use in one of our bathrooms, is that the velocity of the air coming out of it is much greater than that of like that either of them. What that does is it gets the warm air circulating into a room much quicker.At 1500 W, it has no greater wattage then most of the heaters in this price range. But the wind velocity coming out from its strong fan gives it a noticeable edge.For that reason I would highly recommend getting this fan, if you're confused or hemming and hawing about how all these fans look and sound the same.Let me know if you have questions via the comments area below. I bought this heater because I had owned the same one before and it worked for many years without an issue. It's now been approximately 2 years since I ordered this heater and it's not working anymore. The first year, it worked quite well. Now, the heater comes on and off when it is quite cold inside. Today, I turned the heater on in my office at 10am and it is now 2pm: it is very cold in my office and the heater comes on for a few seconds and then stops for several minutes. I'm just very disappointed with this and wish I could return it.
