Maverick ET732/ET733 Genuine Replacement 6 Foot Smoker & Chamber Probe BBQ

Brand New out of the package first use, plugged into my BBQ thermometer in 70 degree weather and reads negative 6. Missed my return window by a couple weeks so now my BBQ thinks it's a freezer.

Bought the cheap ones and their calibration was off. This Maverick replacement part works well. I tested it with hot water along with an insta-read thermometer and a cooking thermometer with hot water. All three were the exact temperature. Looks exactly like the original one. You get what you pay for.

The only thing that I don't like about this is that the junction between the metal probe itself, and the cable seems like it's just begging to fail over time. Not sure that much can be done without making it less useful in some other situations, so for me, I drilled a hole in a wine-cork, and forced the probe through such that the junction is "inside" the cork. Gives me a good way to attach it to a grate inside the smoker, and I feel a bit better about it's reliability. Is it actually any more reliable (or did I make some tiny difference in the probe's accuracy)? Duno. That said, it's helped me make some tasty ribs and pulled-pork.

The lead wire to the chamber probe that came with my Mav ET-732 was WAY too short. It failed after only 4 uses and I take extra care to clean correctly and make sure it did not crimp. Maverick says they are sending me another under warranty which will be my backup.I have another older Maverick product and the wire mesh lead on that chamber probe is significantly more substantial. The wire mesh on the OEM probe and this replacement probe is very thin, almost like it is designed to fail so it can generate replacement parts income.I love the Maverick products, but the thin mesh on their probes, both OEM and replacement, keep me from giving it 5 stars.

Works as a perfect replacement. I only wish that it had the seal figured out in case it was submerged in water when cleaning. That is what killed the first one when one of my friends was helping out doing the dishes dunked it.The 6' length is much more useful then the 3' ones that came with the unit originally.

The only problem I have (which is mostly my fault), is that they don't last long for me. I run the cable under the lid...and over time the weight of the lid breaks the wire inside. I'd like for them to make the wire a little heavier duty, as I'm sure I'm not the only one that runs the cable under the lid like this.This probe works as it should and the 6 foot cable makes it easier to place the electronics away from the grill....which is good, because the electronics will melt when it's too close (as I found out)!
