Good price, good performance, no problems 3 days in. See my added material for a second purchase I made marked with +++++
There are a lot of these models of charger for sale and I looked at the reviews of a whole bunch of them. Overall it seemed that most got a 4 star rating and if you looked at the details of the ratings it was common for there to be 20 "bad" ratings for every 60 "good" ratings. One common thread for the bad ratings was that the charger got really hot, sometimes to the point of melting some portion of it. There didn't seem to be much variation in the ratings with price until you paid over $30+ dollars and even those had some portion of bad reviews for one reason or another. So this one had the typical 4 star rating and a low price so I picked it. My observations after a couple of days.... The plug fits nice and snugly into the computer. The cords are quite a bit shorter than is typical of OEM power packs that come with new computers. Longer would have been nicer. It came with a two prong plug which was what was shown in the ad. There has not been a problem with my Dell D820 recognizing this power pack, which was something people sometimes complained about with these inexpensive power packs. It also will both charge the battery AND run the computer at the same time. So, what about "how hot does it get"? If all it's doing is running the computer cuz the battery is already fully charged it just gets warm, 105 degrees. If the computer is off but the battery is charging it gets pretty warm, nearly hot, I measured it to be around 115 degrees case temperature. If it's both charging the battery and running the computer at the same time it gets hot, around 125 degrees in the hottest spots of the case. It will charge the battery pretty fast, I didn't time it but it seemed like it only took a few hours.Based on my 3 days of use I would say this is a good buy, just be prepared for it to be hot if you are using the computer at the same time it needs the battery charged. Because it gets so hot I would not leave my computer on with the battery charging if I wasn't home to keep an eye on it. I wouldn't be worried if the battery was already charged up as it doesn't run hot in that case.+++++++++ I needed a second one of these and so I ordered again. The second one came from a company called "Talented and Gifted". Not sure why as I clicked on my original order to order the second one. The second one did not work, tried it on two computers and both said they could not recognize the power supply and therefore would not charge the battery. It took several emails but I finally was able to get T&G to agree to a refund. Also, while the first one came with the wall cord, the second one did not. The first one I bought is still working fine but based on the markings on it, it is NOT made by the same company as the second one.

Good substitute for Dell brand
This charger doesn't have the rubber that wraps around to keep the cord in place like the Dell brand, but it does have a velcro strip to contains the cord. The plastic casing when compared to the Dell brand adapter was exact in every way except it doesn't have D-E-L-L on it. It works great. I would suggest not to let the adapter put too much strain on the cord, but let the adapter rest on the floor or table. We had this trouble even with the Dell brand. If it falls off the table (and it eventually will especially with kids around), it probably will separate from the cord because the casing is heavy. We've been through 2 Dell adapters, the second one being repaired twice, and now this one. Eventually, we'll get a new laptop (we have the business class) and maybe the adapter won't be so heavy and have a better cord.

So Far So Good!!!
Well, all I can say is that it does work and the price was right. Couple of things I didn't expect: 1) cable from charger is much shorter in length than the old one, 2) 115 volt cord (didn't say that one was coming with it) is much shorter than the original (had bought a cord at Radio Shack to replace the original cord that came with the original charge, can't use it now because...., 3) the original charger and 115 volt cord was a two-wire / two prong cord and the new one is a three-wire / three prong cord (grounded). Now I have to carry an three-wire 6 ft extension cord in my briefcase. Good thing the new charger is much lighter than the original.

Cheap and a waste of money
This looks the same but is not the same as the Dell OEM charger. It's much lighter which is not always a bad thing in a portable item. When I got charger the LED power light in the case didn't work, which is a slight issue since unlike the original, the cord is separate from the case so without the light you may not realize the cord isn't fully plugged in until you get a low battery reminder. Not a big deal and the price was good, so initially I was very happy, but two months after I got it I noticed that where the cable to the computer exited the case that the cable's insulation was already cracked all the way around. The only thing holding the cable on were the actual electrical wires inside the cable. I put some duct tape around it and hide the cord whenever I'm in a meetings so I don't look like the geek with his glasses tapped together. If you do get this I'd recommend reinforcing this connection unless you aren't going to move the charger and also to be very careful to not bend this fragile joint.

Stopped working. Ruined battery.
The charger stopped charging the battery after a couple of weeks. Battery was not very old, but after getting a better charger, it would only hold a charge for 30 minutes. The battery was less than 2 years old. Had to replace battery.
