Super cute fairytale-esque story!
This was a really cute first book in this new series by these authors, although there are quite a few secondary characters from their previous series included as well just for fun. It still can be read as a stand-alone though. Merrick was a bit bratty, which was understandable given he was brought up as a royal prince, and Alton was super lovable as well. I really liked how the whole story had a fairytale feeling to it. The bit with Astor’s contribution to the conflict resolution was super hilarious. All in all, this was a very good read which I highly recommend.

Merfolk
First, I have to say I thought of Scooby Doo and Mystery Inc. as it is also set in Crystal Cove. Now, this book is good but I did have a much harder time connecting with the MC's than I ever have with these authors. I am not sure why but Merrick was kind of annoying to me and Alton just didn't have a lot of spark. Part of the book really threw me for a loop with Alton's lack of knowledge with an omega heat. Overall it is a good book with an interesting story between the mer people and the wolves. Now it's time to wait for the bear and the vampire!

Unique shifter pairing
This was a unique shifter pairing. You don't often see a land shifter with a water shifter, but wow was this story exciting. I loved that both Alton and Merrik felt this call for each other through dreams and just feeling it in their hearts. I enjoyed the Romeo and Juliet angstiness of the plot. Can these two unlikely groups of shifters come together finally, or will another war keep them apart? Merrik is such a brat for his Daddy and I loved every moment. Alton is a great daddy, tender and knows exactly what his boy needs. I really liked all the supporting shifter characters as well, and am looking forward to their future stories.

Was ok
Was ok to read there really wasn’t much of a conflict in the book I think there were just a lot of misunderstanding between the protagonist and antagonist. It was an instant love story and I felt like there just wasn’t enough character development on both ends. Just wished there had been more of a bigger climax and background build up for the characters.

Sometimes, you have to step out of your bubble.
Approaching his 25th birthday, Alton needed to decide if he would pledge fealty to his pack. The only thing holding him, was his omega Dad. His Dad was frail, missing his alpha mate and aware of the precarious circumstances. Alton, was always curious about, "out there". He felt the call of the sea and didn't know shy. When his Dad passed, he made his decision and left. He was aware of pack secrets, he just didn't know what they were. Merrik, was a sassy merperson who dreamed of his true alpha mate. When his Dad, the King procured an arranged alpha mate, Merrik knew he was not his true mate and it was time to go look for the mate of whom he was always dreaming. So, Merrik escaped to the surface. He ended up in the same place as Alton. They recognized each other as mates, but struggled with the wolf/merman enemies dilemma. Do they commit and mate? Are they able to uncover the secrets of their shared history? Does Merrik's Dad disinherit him? Great world building. Nice foundation for a series. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Entertaining
I was not sure what I was getting myself into when I picked this up on a whim but I’m not disappointed… it was cute and strange but overall very entertaining

Daddy Wolve Brat Merman
