New 12Pcs for 2N3055 2N3055G 2N3055H to-3 NPN High Power Transistor 2N3055B

Finding these devices is becoming a real chore these days. If you work on the OLD solid state and hybrid PA equipment, then you know how VALUABLE thes finds can be. I recently volunteered, without realizing the LACK OF AVAILABILITY of these components, to repair a couple of old amplifiers at our church that took a lightning hit. I ordered these before I was able to get the OEM house part number cross reference to industry standard part number. Although I did not NEED these right away, I couldn't pass up the price. I did search other sources before finding them here but what I discovered was shocking when it came to the price. By ordering these on Amazon, I got 4 pcs for the price of just one at the cheapest other source I found. They arrived well packaged and in a short time. Now that I have these on hand, if I find myself repairing one of those older pieces of equipment that requires them, I will be able to provide a short turnaround on the job.

All transistors arrived in good condition, tested with a component tester and within spec. Was able to make my repair and am very satisfied!

I blew a couple of these while building a flyback driver, which was my fault, so I definitely recommend keeping it cool the best you can, but it works.

Worked well as a replacement part in a linear power supply. TO-3 package seemed much more substantial than the part replaced.

Don’t waste your time

The two I randomly grabbed from the bag tested good and the one I used is working good in my pinball machine. However, I only gave 3 stars for the following reasons.1. Poorly packaged. All 12 stuck into a foam square, legs bent, and everything tightly jammed into a very tiny anti-static bag.2. Where the two legs enter the case, there is a little hump of epoxy or plastic at the base of each leg. This hump prevents it from sitting flat on the PCB without rocking. If you tighten the screws, you will bend the PCB. To fix, I had to chamfer the top of the holes on the PCB just enough so that the little humps at the base of the leads had enough clearance to fully seat the transistor flat against the board. Keep in mind that if your PCB has traces on the top then making a chamfer could break the electrical connection through the hole. Mine did not. The original Motorola transistor did not have this problem.The original transistor lasted 40+ years, so I will update this review if this component fails.
