A Thing of Beauty
This razor is a pleasure just to hold. Its heft compared to that of the SS is inspiring, and the stainless steel even has a different feel on the face. It is expensive, and maybe not worth the cost if you've already bought the SS or another razor, but if you can see your way to it, you won't be disappointed; it's on another level.

Feather DX exceeded my high expectations
I have been straight-razor shaving for a couple of years, using both folding handle and kamisori style. I purchased the Feather Artist Club DX at a good discounted price and was not disappointed. My first shave with a Feather Professional Super blade provided a great shave. It was very close, and experienced no skin irritation or cuts. I don't think a professional barber could have done any better. The razor is very well-balanced, has good weight, and seems very well-built. As for beginners, I don't know if I can recommend it. Maybe. I started on a Parker SRX, which takes a half double edge blade (I prefer the Feather blades for that too). The Parker is a lot less expensive and a good razor, but the Feather AC DX and SR are on another level. The Feather razors are pricey (even at discounted prices), but in my experience I think they're superior and less expensive in the long run compared to cartridge razors.

Outstanding!
Have you always had trouble keeping your straight razor sharp, but loved the close shave you get with it when it is sharp? Well this is for you. Dead easy to use. Pinch it open and insert a blade and you’re good to go. This thing shaves so close you will forget you had a beard. It’s so easy you actually need to pay attention when you’re using it…you can still nick or cut yourself. Quality is exceptional; take care of it and it’ll last so long they’ll bury you with it and you can keep using it in the afterlife. As a side note this isn’t a ”bring it on the airplane in your carry on item,” so stow it in your check in luggage. Is it worth the high price? Absolutely. If you’re new to straight razor shaving this is a great start. You can still cut yourself but because the blade only protrudes a millimeter you can’t do serious damage.

A decent hybrid between a safety and a traditional straight
I bought this to try it out and see if it was sharper than my straight. I used the super pro blades and cut myself a couple of times. The angle is different than a traditional straight and the blade is sharper because the metal is thinner and machine produced. I kept at it and the shave is closer than my straight which I think I’ve sharpened pretty well. Having said that, I do enjoy the process of a traditional straight with the honing and stropping. The feather will be kept in my rotation but I don’t like the ecological impact of the plastic in which the blades come. My traditional straight will be my go to with this a close second.

Worth Every Penny
As a guy, who just turned 61 and has always hated having to shave, this razor actually makes me look forward to it now. After buying this, I then decided to buy a hot towel warmer to give myself barber shop quality shaves. I also recommend that, if you're going to use a straight razor to cut sharp beard lines, compliment it all with EZ-Blade shaving gel, which allows you to get a smooth shave without obscuring the shaving surface, since it goes on transparent.I use this straight razor together with a Feather AS-D2. The double edge does most of the shaving and the straight razor is reserved for the beard edges to achieve a sharp line that you can't get any other way. This is my first and only straight razor. I feared that learning to use one might be a painful, bloody experience. To my delight, learning the technique was easy and painless. I'm not so in love with the fine art of shaving that I cared to learn honing and stropping. So, this choice of a replaceable blade was optimal for me. At about 50-60 cents per blade, the cost is nothing to complain about. Since I only use it for edging, I don't have to change blades very often.

Excellent razor, but too expensive
I always liked the close shave I got from a proper straight razor. But I hated the constant honing and stropping. The Feather Artist Club DX is the perfect compromise between a straight razor and a safety razor. It's a little lighter than a real straight razor and takes a little getting used to, but it gives a nice close shave. You also have your choice of a variety of blades to install. I use the Professional Blades, which are good for a light to medium beard. I first posted this review back in May 2013, and I'm updating it now in September because I'm so impressed with how long the blades stay sharp. I've been using the same blade all summer and it's still plenty sharp. The pack of blades I purchased with this razor should easily last the rest of the year. There is one drawback to this razor. It is way too expensive. You can get a premium traditional straight razor from the top dealers for less. And when you have to buy disposable blades, that just adds to the unnecessary cost. But, all in all, I am satisfied with this razor. It shaves well and is very pretty. Just understand you're paying for something that will require refills.

Feather DX Shavette
I have the Feather SS (Scotch Wood), Feather SR (Folder and Kamisori) and this Feather DX.All are excellent quality AC shavettes. But there is no denying that the DX is the cream of the crop regarding overall appearance and feel resembling that of an actual straight razor.Yes, the price is noticeably more than the SS and even the SR. But it's worth the difference. The SS and SR are cast stainless steel that has a brushed finish. It's high quality though. The DX is CNC machined, polished SS. Stunning!
