Great bang for your buck -- love the light! Nice optics
Nice, high quality loupe which has far exceeded my expectations. Solid, heavy metal construction, and has a ring of bright LEDs around bottom lens that can be switched on or off with a small plastic switch. It also comes with a small wrench for battery replacement and a nice (seems to be genuine) leather carrying case. I opted for a lighted model because I don't like searching through my own shadow for a strong light source.A word on optics:I feel I need to issue a disclaimer here. I have a hobby (some would say illness?) as an amateur astronomer and own several telescopes and top-of-the-line expensive eyepieces (lenses). I feel this gives me a bit more experience when it comes to spotting optical quality, mainly because I'm very used to looking through small pieces of glass of varying qualities and am experienced in spotting optical defects. After fooling around with this loupe for an evening I can say I am quite pleased with the optical quality. I notice no odd color distortions, and the image quality across the entire field of view is quite crisp. This is the only loupe from this maker that I have looked through, so I cannot vouch for consistency, but the reviews on Amazon back up my findings. Although this does have a large "MADE IN CHINA" sticker on front of the leather case, I have not found this to be a detractor. In the world of amateur astronomy, an increasing volume of telescope optics are being produced in China, and have been found to be quite good and consistent.A further note: I have found the hinge on the cover that slides over the lenses to be quite loose, and when hanging on a lanyard around my neck its standard is to stay dropped open. Overall, a minor issue as I keep this in the leather case when not in use, but an issue nonetheless. Please take this into consideration when making your purchase.

Excellent loupe without distortion
Reviewing loupes is tricky. If you don't have experience with such things, it's easy to think it's better than it is, or worse than it is. Some people do not know to hold a loupe close to the subject, but try to treat it as a magnifier. Thus one reviewer said the image is upside down! (it's not) Since it's so hard to see through the comments at Amazon, I bought 9 different loupes here and tried them all. I only bought the ones that looked to be high in quality. This loupe, the "SE Illuminated Led Jewelers Loupe 10x Triplet 21mm Lens," is one of the best that Amazon sells, I am happy to report. The ringed LED illumination casts an even light on the subject. That can be a pro or a con, for you don't get consistent shadowing with light coming from 360 degrees, but I find it to be a very attractive feature. The brilliant, even illumination can bring out details that shadowing doesn't necessarily help with. The construction is very solid. This loupe is going to last a long time. The case is nice, and keeps pocket lint out of the lens, protecting it from keys and coins, or from dust in general. But the best feature of all is the even image. No warping, edge to edge. Even though this is a fairly small loupe (19.42mm across the viewable area), it's also one of the clearest, and is effectively larger than many since you can see from edge to edge without any trace of warpage. My only criticism is that the delicate switch is a little hard to grasp. I'm careful with it, hoping it will last a long time.As one who uses a lot of magnification in work, hobbies, and home, I can recommend this without hesitation. This is one of the better ones you'll find at Amazon. Oddly the rating stars call it a "toy." ("How do you rate this toy?") It is NOT a toy, but a professional instrument. This is my go-to loupe. Honestly, it's one of the best sold at Amazon, and if I were you, I'd skip the $5 loupes and go with this one. Trust me, those others are frustrating and distorted. This one is great. Just get it.

Love - hate relationship
This is the worst designed and worst built product I have even owned. But, I can't live without it.The optical quality is excellent and the built-in illumination makes it far superior to any unlighted magnifier. Until your batteries wear out you will love it.Replacing the batteries is a nightmare. Unscrew the battery cover and inside is a stack of three tiny batteries. Below the stack is the switch. When you remove the batteries, the switch is loose and it comes out of it place. Over the battery stack is a tiny piece of scrap metal attached to a wire.To replace the batteries, open the cover, pull the wire away, and remover the batteries. Put the new batteries in. Then you must fish the little switch into place while putting pressure on the stack of batteries with your finger so the switch doesn't move. Now put the scrap metal over the battery stack and screw on the cover.I went to replace the batteries and it still didn't work. So I took apart the lens area. Under the plastic ring there is a little ring-shaped circuit board with the LEDs. The red wire had come unsoldered. The soldering on this board was just awful and after seeing it there's no surprise that a wire came undone. I re-soldered both wires and it worked again. Fortunately I am in the electronics business and I can do this kind of repair.I'd love to see the manufacturer re-design the product to be more reliable and easier to change the batteries. It wouldn't cost them much and they would be able to get a better price for it.As it is, it just can't be relied on to work when you need it.

A great addition to my collection of hand lenses
I collect and identify bryophytes, very small plants, that often grow in not very well lighted habitats. This Loupe has really improved the quality of my collecting and even allows accurate identification in the field. I bought 6 and each of my 2 friends now have 2 as well. A great addition to my collection of hand lenses!

Best deal ever
Wonderful loupe. Very sharp, flat field. Illumination works fine, although the LED could be a bit brighter. And the price is great. This is the same loupe that is sold under the Grobet brand, but at about half the price of the Grobet.
