It is waxy so it sticks to the plants, works well against rabbits, squirrels, cat’s and other small mammals. If it rains you need to reapply.

Since I began giving the black-oil sunflower seeds a light spray of this before filling the bird feeder, foraging visits by marauding black bears have stopped. Two bears tipped over the feeder pole at different times, and took a bite of the treated seeds. Then they walked away, perhaps to seek a drink to dilute the taste of the pepper oil, and have not returned. Meanwhile, the chickadees, titmice, and nuthatches that frequent the feeder reportedly can't taste the pepper, and peck away the husk before eating. the seed, so they're not ingesting it. For our bird clientele, this is a much more cost-effective approach than buying pre-treated seed mix, especially as the millet and cracked corn components were left uneaten.

This did not deter the squirrels at all.

I’ve used this product for several years. It works great but you have to understand it washes off and must be reapplied especially after a rain. It works very well to keep raccoons off of your corn - they clearly don’t like it as they eat my neighboring gardener’s corn and they leave mine alone! It’s pricey but it works.

Squirrels can be fun to watch and I even have a dried corn feeder out for them. But they can be pests! They especially like to chew on drip irrigation lines which leads to ongoing inspection and repair of the damage they cause. This has proven to be a deterrent to the constant chewing and has decreased the damage caused. It is not permanent, but the wax solution does seem to last and now I can inspect and apply preventative spray. Stays on even after running the system and rainstorms. Now if I can just find a way to keep them out of my garden.

I bought this product to keep our corgi from eating our potted plants. He loves it! Not a second's hesitation. Just keeps nibbling. It might work on some animals, but not dogs.2 stars for arriving quickly and packaging properly. 0 stars for effectiveness.

I bought this stuff as I’m lazy and didn’t want to make some recipe of the webs. But I’ve been have problems with the ground squirrels eating my seedling before they are even established. This seems to do the trick as the ones left that I sprayed it on are still here!
