Absolutely phenomenal guitar for the price!
Just wow! What an absolutely phenomenal guitar for the price. I actually wasn't planning on buying a guitar when I purchased this. I found it on sale for $167. I was looking for a hollow-body guitar but was just window shopping. I was planning on spending A LOT MORE MONEY. When I saw the reviews for this and the price, I decided to take a chance. Man, I am not disappointed.I'm going to start off like so many other reviews and say, it needs a little set up work out of the box. It played OK out of the box, especially for the price, but it needed some tweaking. If this is your first guitar, do yourself a favor and get it set up properly! If you know how to do your own setup work, don't hesitate, this guitar is awesome. If you don't do your own setup work you can always learn on Youtube. Otherwise, spend an extra $50 to $75 and get it set up at your local guitar store. Once this thing is set up properly you won't believe how nice this thing plays. The first thing I adjusted was the truss rod. The neck was loose, and I've read several reviews stating the same. Once I got the neck adjusted it was like a completely different guitar.Once the neck was straightened out, I replaced the factory strings with some Fender 250s. The factory strings are OK and sound great. The Fender strings changed the sound up a bit and gave me a little better action too.I haven't made many bridge adjustments yet, but I'm also planning on doing some bridge tweaking and lowering the action a bit. The action is a little high for my tastes out of the box. I didn't make many adjustments because I was playing slide/bottleneck guitar with it when I first got it. Now that I have it in standard tuning and playing more fingerpicking and traditional playing, I'm going to lower the action a bit.I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH! Once you make a couple of adjustments to this guitar, you'd never know you paid under $200 for the thing. It just plays great. It just has the look, feel, and sound of a much more expensive guitar.None of the parts really feel cheap. Pickups have decent sound. I'm just playing through a $40 sawtooth practice amp. The tuning pegs rotate smoothly. THE GUITAR STAYS IN TUNE.I love the ivy neck inlays. I can't believe how beautiful the guitar looks. My friends can't believe I bought it for $167. It plays and sounds like a guitar which would be much more expensive.I'd honestly be shocked if you could find a better guitar in this price range. Now I can take the money I saved on this and buy a nice resonator guitar. If IYV made resonators, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.The fit and finish is OK. The paint looks great but there probably will be blemishes. I found a run by the sound hole, but nothing major or super noticeable. I'll take a couple imperfections in the paint considering how well this thing plays and sounds.I really love this guitar for the price. I don't think you can find anything better in the under $300 range.

Review of IYV Acoustic-Electric (IPF-300 TS
The IPF-300 TSB weighs a relatively feather-like 6.84 pounds, or about half if it's solid-body cousin, the IP-300-TSB that is listed at 12.47 lbs. When this was delivered today, the single layer carton looked like it was new, when usually, IYV cartons coming from the other side of the planet, suffer quite a bit, depending on the delivery method. There was absolutely no damage to the carton or the guitar inside; no marks, gouges, scrapes, as if Scotty himself beamed it here. The listing photos are disappointing in comparison to seeing this guitar in person, as it’s solid-body cousin. This finish on both this and the solid-body is the best of any IYV guitars; as delivered, there was no film, smudges, dirt, grit, scuffing, scratches, or dings, it’s easy to hold and play.Like this it’s solid-body cousin, (the IP-300-TSB) the finish on ours is clear from the base to the top level clear coat and the gloss is smooth. During inspection and handling, I used cotton gloves and afterward wiped the guitar down with a polishing cloth. The use of your preference of a high quality polish or wax will maintain the finish for years. This neck was a nice surprise and with the light weight it was easy to hold and play. It was in perfect alignment, without any need for adjustments thus far, especially after traveling from half a world away. The factory strings felt surprisingly responsive, certainly not the usual dead and dull sound, and without any grit, film or rust which others have reported, usually common on factory installed strings (there was no rice-paper wrapping). Another nice surprise was that the factory strings had been de-tuned prior to shipping and storage. Leaving strings at pitch for extended periods without playing can inflict stress and damage to the neck. The string gauge from the factory played well enough, a size smaller should handle well enough without any buzzing. Fret spacing, intonation is also spot-on. On checking with the straight edge, the frets have no sprout and no beveling/leveling or other work is indicated. The fretboard on the top and both sides are flat and smooth, there are no uncomfortable edges. Recommendation, this IYV and it’s solid-body cousin make a perfect-playing pair, grab one or both!

Amazing guitar for this price
First let me say this is my 3rd IYV guitar. They are a great dollar value with really good workmanship. I have noticed a few things they all had in common. One thing is you will want to tighten up the truss rod. When you remove the truss rod cover use the Allen wrench that comes with the guitar and tighten the truss rod. Amazingly these guitars are built with a dual action truss rod which means when you start to tighten the truss rod it feels like it’s actually loosening but it will then start to tighten. Continue to tighten the truss rod and make sure it’s tight. That’s been all 3 of these guitars I purchased. Next they all do have some minor finish flaws but at this price I’m not complaining. Really the workmanship is fantastic. I believe there is a lot more hands on work on these guitars than the name brand ones I grew up with and played my entire life. The finish despite the minor flaws is great. The inlays are really installed perfect and while not real mother of pearl they look good. The tuners are smooth and the guitar stays in tune. It actually has a hand fitted bone nut. The pickups are CNC wound and sound fantastic. Overall hard to believe this price. After adjusting the truss rod and also lowered the bridge pickup this baby plays like butter, has a great tone to it and is strikingly beautiful for this price incredible isn’t it.
