An excellent adjunct to iMac Pro
This serves as a second drive for the new iMac Pro, utilizing essentially the same storage technology as found in the computer itself. It installed easily and, thus far, has performed to my expectations.

Not even close to advertised performance of 2800MB/s
I'm sorry to say, G-Drive really screwed me on this one, and I'll never risk buying one of their products again. The 2TB drive SSD Pro line with Thunderbolt 3 was purchased because it is advertised at 2800MBs sustained and has Thunderbolt 3. $2,000 is crazy high amount for a 2TB drive at moment, but they were presumed to be a company that delivered. They did not.The actual bench marks for this drive are sitting at <800MBs write, and <2200MBs read on all application (Black Magic System Test and AJA Videos Systems at all sizes - screen shots included.Test were conducted under the G-Drive Tech support supervision using a mid year 2019 Mac running the latest and greatest and connected to Thunderbolt 3. After running the tests, G-Technical support consulted their engineering team which came back with the answer that the drive was performing within spec, and that the 2800 numbers were ONLY for the 7.68 TB version in the family, not for the whole line. Further becuase the drive was purchased through an Amazon Partner, they refused to refund it or swap it to something that met the advertised performance.I've opened a false advertising complaint with the Better Business Bureau ( BBB CASE#: 706666 ) to seek resolution. Bottom line if you are looking for a fast drive for video processing, this is not it - and it's not a company worth doing business with either.

G-Tech is NOT the company it once used to be
Adding to M. Paolini' sentiments here so others can benefit from this.I am a professional in the postproduction industry and have purchased many drives from G-Technology in the past, it has been one of thee-go-to brands for my needs. But unfortunately based on my recent experience with the brand, G-Technology is not the same reliable and trustworthy company anymore. My last experience with them was nothing but them false advertising their products (regarding sustained data rates, etc), taking ages to reply to technical questions, and just being overall shady in their responses and dealings.I was genuinely interested in one of their fairly expensive raids but they really screwed it up for me in terms of delayed response times, reluctance to answer clearly and disclose the real world specifications of their products. Long story short, I ended up wasting lots of my valuable times in back and forth with them trying to extract out the correct information which they eventually did, proving themselves they had advertised their products falsely. This used to be a great small local company that I remember just picking up the phone and calling their tech dept directly with a knowledgeable person on the line who knew their stuff and did not have to keep putting me on holds to get the info from their superiors.I am not sure if the downfall here is the result of Western Digital buying it out or if some other corporate type of merger nonsense has killed a great company.Anyways, to anyone interested in any of their products my advice would be to do really not trust these guys and their advertised specs, make sure to have them give you the true real world specs, before you purchase anything from this outfit now.We in the industry have so little time to waste on nonsense like this and that's one of the main reason for some of us to trust only a few brands that are reliable and trustworthy and value the business we bring to them. And G-Technology used to be that company once.
