This album really covers all the top 40 big hita as he was more known or big in America than Great Britain. There are probably more good albums of Bobby Vinton but I like this one and it suits me fine.

Bobby Vinton has a voice that is evocative of a bygone era - the 1960`s. There was so much beat, bash, bang about that the singers whose voices were audible and who sang lyrics that made sense were in the minority. Step forward the Johnny Tillotsons, the Brian Hylands, the Bobby Vees etc AND Bobby Vinton. amongst others.This compilation consists of a majority of his big hits. Probably best known for "Blue Velvet", his versions of "Roses Are Red", "Mr Lonely" "There I`ve Said It Again" and "L-O-N-E-L-Y" are amongst his most popular, plus a lot of covers of other artists hits. Songs recorded by Brian Hyland, The Platters, Jimmy Young, Bobby Vee, Elvis, The Four Aces and BJ Thomas all feature. The version of "Venus" is a strange one, either he forgot to turn up for the recording or he is a great trumpeter, I`m not sure. The version of "True Love" does not quite fit with this upbeat version, although he sings it faultlessly. Good value even though a majority of the songs are a bit on the depressing side. Sadly no "Blue On Blue" or "What Color Is A Man".

This cd came super fast, some great songs & this was purchased mainly because we wanted the "Mr Lonely" from the "Lemon Popsicle " movie, to add to the cd we purchased a few weeks ago, very happy .thank you !
