A good solid design that works well
A well thought-out design that allows the user to install an SSD or HDD without the need for tools. Please note that the caddy requires slim drives.Transfer speed is very fast. The included cable is good quality but is quite stiff, and could be a bit longer, which does make it a little fiddly to use in certain situations. The user has the option to use his own cable if required.Overall a very good device.

Excellent performance and value for money
I bought this enclosure because I had an old 250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD drive left over from an older desktop that I sold off in pieces in 2019 because the Asus Z97-PRO WiFi/AC motherboard was terrible (a story for another day).I decided to buy this UGREEN enclosure because I know that I will be buying an M1 Mac laptop when I can travel again in future. I needed a drive that could be formatted to move data between my Windows 10 PC and a Mac. Plus in the meantime I could use it for general use.I'm pleased to say that this enclosure exceeded my expectations. The performance of my Samsung SSD was excellent as you can see from the CrystalDiskMark utility that I installed and ran from the Windows App Store.A quick test of moving some MP4 videos from my PC to the drive was lightning quick. In fact, this setup up is far superior to a crappy 2.5" Western Digital Passport I bought many years ago (it was a 5400rpm drive). The WD was VERY unreliable and I would never buy that type of HDD from any manufacturer ever again. The physical build quality of the unit was just what I was looking for i.e not too cheap, but not premium either because I look after my things very well. I'd highly recommend this enclosure to anyone that has an old SSD lying around, or even to someone looking for a new SSD drive. Just buy your own SSD and put it into this unit.

Speedy, and performant, small caveats though
PROSThe drive is pretty sleek and well designed. The padding for the drive is very good (may be a little too good as it was a bit tight to install the drive at first)The usb/sata chipset is the ASM 235CM, and is a great performer, supporting USB 3.1 gen 2 connections (10Gbps) though bear in mind SATA III is limited to 6Gbps and further limited by the Drive Speed depending in its type. It also is UASP, which is important for performance with systems/OSs that support it. My system supports and uses UASP with this drive. The crystal mark Screenshot provided (567MBps seq read, 530MBps seq write) is my Samsung EVO 870 2TB drive inside the caddy, using USB 3.1 Gen 2, and compares very well to direct SATA speeds and shows pretty much full saturation of the SATA III interface, with that being the bottleneck. In fact it seems to be slightly faster on seq read/writes verses my EVO 870 4TB connected that I have connected direct to SATA 3 on my motherboard, and slightly slower on random. On USB 3.0 (gen1) 5gbps it gets about 445MBps seq read, and 411MBps seq write, showing the USB3.0 Gen 1 5Gbps interface being the bottleneck, and the speeds being quite respectable for a USB 3.0 interface.Things to be aware of:Only a USB A to USB C cable is provided, and whilst some USB A ports may have GEN 2 (10Gbps) support, many computers (such as mine) only provide 10Gbps via USB C ports, so if I needed to get the most absolute performance from a fast SATA SSD, I had to source my own USB C to C cable. Would have been helpful if a C to C cable was also included. Though for those using traditional HDDs in this, this woudl be a moot point for performance as those will not reach USB 3 speeds anyway, but may provide convenience.Cooling, the case is made of plastic, and there are no vents. Whilst my Samsung SSD is pretty cool, I do have a concern about possible overheading when used with HDD over longer periods of time and activity (shrter times and low activity shoudl be totally fine)For the above I have docked a single starNevertheless is a great product, and at a good price.

Problem-free, works with Linux
Dispatched very promptly. Good quality build. Easy to assemble and disassemble. It's not possible to put the cover back on if the drive is a mechanical one, but this is not much of an issue. This was a 5400rpm drive I plugged into a Linux Mint system. It's a lot faster than other USB caddies I've used. An excellent product.

Works perfectly
Works perfectly but make sure you have a usb-c to usb -c cable as it did not work at all with the cable that it came with but apart from that good solid item.

Very easy to use and usefulness
Before this, I used an eSata to USB cable, with my 2.5" HDDs or SSDs. I mostly use one particular SSD and this makes it much more useful and practical. The SSD is well "cushioned" and opening, fitting a disk and closing procedure is straightforward.

Easy to use enclosure with great USB connectivity.
The enclosure despite being made of plastic is pretty sturdy and the drives sit snug and tight inside. The hard drive slots in easily and then the cover clicks back on position. It comes with a USB C to USB 3 cable, if plugging directly into a USB C socket you’ll have to buy a cable or, as I did, use one supplied with other hard drives. Once plugged in it works very well and is fast. I had to contact the supplier to get a VAT receipt, no problems here either with very prompt response. Reasonably priced too.

Very easy to set up
This UGreen SSD enclosure is quick and easy to set up. There are three steps and no tools are required. This is useful if you have more than one SSD available and want to swap drives around. If you don't plan on swapping drives, the 'tool free' feature is less of a selling point. My other enclosure is aluminium and uses two screws (a screwdriver was included) and in my view, it feels more robust than a plastic one. The UGreen enclosure is plastic but does not feel cheap or flimsy. It has an LED light which flashes when the SSD is operational. The enclosure has sufficient foam padding inside to stop any movement of the SSD. A good all-round SSD enclosure at a reasonable price.
