Worth every penny! Perfect if you want a small, but quality kitchen!
I bought this for my daughter for her second birthday which was met with her immediate delight. Lots of "wows!!" Exactly as pictured. Amazing quality.Good: perfect for homes with little space (literally extends 12" in depth, even if that sounds unworkable, it is) and can be easily moved; excellent quality from Hape; realistic; just enough features if you don't want a deluxe behemoth version; extra mobility features and pretend play possibilities (with the chalkboards and extension); perfect size for Hape, KidKraft, and Learning Resources accessories (see picture); and simply an attractive toy.Not-so-good: not a deluxe behemoth (so no fridge or pantry, no washer, way less counterspace...); smaller everything (e.g., sink, 2-burner stovetop instead of 4); needs an additional storage basket for all your accessories if you do plan to move the unit; the only interactive features are clicking knobs; and really only accommodates 2 children unless moved away from the wall). We use the oven for dish and serviceware storage in addition to hanging and stacking on top. We haven't had issues with the door like others, but it seems reinforced (bought this in April 2017). We leave the extension open as a makeshift pantry and use an additional basket for her playfood. We have bought Learning Resources playfood, and it's all sized perfectly (even to the Hape wooden food). We also have some other random toys that all happened to work perfectly size-wise. I plan to get her some flag banners and fun chalk pens to expand use of the pretend functionality as she grows.I paid about $85, and it was worth every penny. I researched all the smaller units, and it came down to this, another Hape unit, or a Melissa & Doug model. So glad we picked this one!Update 11/27/19: My daughter is well past 4yo now, and this is her favorite, most played-with toy. I would gladly have paid double for it if I knew it would get this much use. Also, nothing has fallen apart. Looks as good as new after over 2 years of constant use.*** For those interested, I did not receive this (or any other product) for free or at a discount. I just wanted to offer my input to other parents on the fence.

A Terrific Investment So Far
We have owned this kitchen for 8 months now. We purchased it for my son's second birthday, and he has really enjoyed it since then. It is the perfect size to keep in our own kitchen, but it often gets wheeled from one room to the next during playtime. Thus far, it is holding up very well, and it could pass for brand new. I did read the reviews before purchasing this product, so from day one, our son was instructed not to hang on, climb on or generally roughhouse with the oven door. It hasn't been an issue so far. The only frustration for him is that his Melissa and Doug felt pizza pan is too large to fit inside, but his other sets fit just fine. We also use the Melissa and Doug Stainless Steel Pots and Pans, and they are the perfect size to hang on this Hape kitchen. Also, when he isn't "cooking", my son can regularly be found drawing pictures on the chalkboard side of this product. This kitchen has been a terrific investment!Update (12/24/17): We have now had this kitchen for one year, and it still looks brand new. My son still uses the chalkboard as much as the oven, but it still has a ton of use on pretend play. We got a couple more play sets of food as well. The wooden crate from the Melissa and Doug Cutting Fruit is too big to store inside the oven, but the M&D Slice and Bake Cookies fit perfectly on their tray in the oven. This kitchen has been one of our best purchases to date for our child.

Smart buy. Great fun!
Our kids LOVE to play restaurant but the set that we were given for Christmas many years ago was just too cumbersome to move around and it took up half the room. So I did some research and found this lovely Cafe Cook & Serve Kitchen that extended when needed to be "creative". I made a deal with my 3 children and had them clean the old one, sold it locally to a grandmother (who has the room!) for her grandchildren. With that money, I bought this set which turned out to be more efficient and perfect for our needs. And it was super easy to construct. My 9 year old daughter and I put it together in 30 minutes. I have never been so thankful. The kids have been playing so much with it. It looks lovely (and cute) in their play room and can be rolled away into a closet if need be. Cute Kitchen--But Not As High Quality As I Hoped
I am very happy with this purchase! The set is adorable, seems high quality, and does not take up a lot of space. It was a cinch to assemble (around 30 minutes--no tools required except for the included allen wrench). I love how the chalkboard side gives kids the chance to be creative with menus and how the red knobs click when the burners are turned on. This is a great set for anyone who wants a smaller kitchen or, in my case, we made one day add a larger kitchen set if our daughter still loves playing kitchen at age 3. Since this set has the "food stand" side, it could be used alongside a larger set without being totally redundant. Great toy! Love all the Hape kitchen products we have so far.*** I am updating this review after owning the kitchen for less than a month. I have taken away two stars because this morning, my 18-month old daughter (who loves the kitchen), tore off the oven door when opening it. She even got a small cut on her eye. I have sent an email to the Hape company, so it will be interesting to see their reply; I'm hoping they will offer to replace the oven door panel. However, be aware that the oven door is attached in a flimsy way and can be torn off by the normal play habits of an 18-month old.
