Doesn't work for connecting MacBook to DV Camcorder
Doesn't work for connecting a Sony DV camcorder. I used a different cable recently to record VHS tapes onto my computer using OBS Studio. I was hoping to do the same with this and DV tapes.I saw reviews saying it worked for this purpose but there weren't any details on how. My MacBook doesn't see the camera at all.This seemed great because I was hoping to avoid the daisy chain of Thunderbolt and FireWire cables I see people using. Since I only have 6 tapes, I'm sending them off to be digitized and returning this since it doesn't work.

Works...sometimes (Update)
I needed to access some old drives and was thrilled to find this easy-to-use adaptor. Just plug and play and go! The trouble is, it worked on drives I didn't need to access (that I already had access to through different means) and didn't work on the drives I really needed it for (no other port options). I guess my search continues!UPDATE: Exceptional support! After I left feedback, I was contacted and refunded the full amount of the cable. I really appreciate that Herfair stands by their products.

It fixed a need
I tried several different options to get my old external HD to see my new computer...almost spent a couple of hundred dollars to find out what was on the HD. This option fixed the need.

Didn’t work for Iomega external drive
I bought this to transfer files from an old Iomega drive to my new iMac. New iMac didn’t recognize it, and I followed the troubleshooting suggestion and tried using the cord to connect the drive to my old iMac which I had originally bought the drive for. Again no recognition, so decided it was the fault of cord and returned it. (the iomega’s original FireWire cord worked fine connecting to the old iMac.)

Didn't work for me
Bought this to connect an older Lacie Porsche external drive to a MacMini M4. Locked up system after using cable to connect the drive. Seems well made but didn't work in my situation.

I needed a firewire cable and this worked perfectly
