The ant house itself is good, featuring a lid for easy feeding. However, you need to purchase ants separately, and in our experience, they didn't live long – only about 2-3 months. While this was disappointing, it was still fun to observe their daily activities.

Excellent quality and arrived on time. 5 and 7 year old are fascinated. Remember is does not come with ants so you have to order them separately. We ordered and they arrived a day before we gifted the ant farm and so we refrigerated them until we put them in and several are still alive at 2 weeks. Remember the ants can be quick and do bite so you want to refrigerate before you put in so that you slow them down to make loading easier.

I feel confident that the creepy little crawlers will stay contained in this sturdy habitat. When you order your ants, expect to also order food and a water dropper (about $9 total). Unless you pay extra, you will not receive any way of tracking your ant delivery. Our mailman was nice enough to bring the envelope to our door, and we immediately set up the farm. Despite this, our ants were sluggish for the first couple days and I was starting to think they had suffered during transit. We gave them a few drops of sugar water, and after about 3 days they seemed to pick up steam. My daughters are really enjoying learning about ants (the included booklet is informative) and watching their progress. Well worth the $30 investment and I think this would make an awesome gift!

My son received this for his birthday and today (2 weeks later) we got the ants in the mail. So much fun for him to set up and we can't wait for the ants to get busy making tunnels. Such an easy insect pet and so fun for kids.

Cute but kind of small

The kit doesn't come with ants and the ants are harder to obtain than they let on, which was misleading. The product itself is useless without the ants. So if you'd like a small box with sand and stickers, you might enjoy this. Otherwise, save your money and go to the local pet store.This was not worth the money or hassel.

Great gift when you don't want to give another toy. Gave these as Christmas gifts to all the children in our family. They all loved them.

The ant farm was cute.i just wish the ants didn’t die in less than a week. But the ants farm alone was great!
