Self Defense Contender
This knife is excellent. Key points/ uses*excellent handle, finger choil is very ergonomic compared to many boot knives and allows for a wonderful forward as well as reverse grip as most boot knives or daggers offer more of a horizontal full handed grip.*splined edges offer a great place to keep your thumb during use*sheath is incredible and the inside the pants concealed carry is a delight as it is lightweight and drains well.*the draw is incredibly quick and requires no release of any safety or clasp but untouched the knife will never fall out even if upside down.*balance is perfectly down the center, you can put your finger in the choil and balance it with one finger making the knife extraordinarily swift and light in the hand*vg-10 steel is perfect, hard to sharpen but holds impeccable edgecons*moves around slightly in the sheath and will make a swoosh sound upon draw. But almost makes virtually no noise otherwise.*I wasn't super happy with the edge originally and didn't pass my paper edge slice test. I sharpened it with a whetstone and took about 30 min to get the desired edge but is now literally razor hair shaving sharp.*nice finish but will begin to scratch and fade when you sharpen which I don't find a problem that much. I would like it to have that look natural wear over timeNOTE! *knife is not meant for daily activities in my opinion and that of Mr. Perrin it is designed for combat in self defense. There is a need to keep it oiled and razor sharp in case of a self defense emergency and is a little imposing (not the size just the look) for using in public and regular activities and has a very needle like point that could break if you abuse this knife. I would recommend using your folding beater for everyday activities.Fantastic knife and is a companion that I can rely on for supreme dependency in any situation, light, quick, and extraordinarily smooth. A must have for a knife collector, law enforcement officer, military, and people looking for a self defense tool

Excellent fixed blade for a great price.
Awesome knife! The handle is very comfortable and secure. The handle curves and swells in all the right places to make the knife feel like an extension of my hand. The deep index finger choil and nonslip handle inserts give the Street Bowie excellent grip retention. The VG10 makes for a solid blade steel. Has good corrosion resistance, decent toughness and edge retention, and takes a very good edge. Responds well to both diamond and ceramic sharpening stones. The blade geometry is a full flat grind, which makes the knife slide through whatever you're cutting with ease. I took the edge down to a thinner angle than the factory gave it and the performance improved quite a bit.The coating is tough and holds up to abuse. It's good for peace of mind since it does a great job of protecting the blade from the elements. Periodic sharpening is the only maintenance this knife will need. The sheath is nice. It could be a little bit slimmer I think, but it does its job well. The G clip is a fantastic attachment clip that works with belts, backpack straps, waistbands etc. Can wear this knife with basketball shorts if you wanted. Supports a variety of carry positions and is completely ambi-dextrous.I feel like the price is very good compared to what spydercos other fixed blades and higher end folders retail for. I paid more for my Paramilitary 2 than I did for this larger, beefier knife.Nothing bad I can say about this after using it for half a year.

Once Sick Blade!
This is truly a sick blade. It has a very low signature when worn the way Fred Perrin intended. It weighs so little it is easy to forget you are wearing it. The blade is perfect for modern combat or to be used as a self defense weapon - particularly for a smaller, petite woman. It is so light it is like an extension of your hand and it is razor sharp out of the box. The G clip is excellent and versatile and does not come undone. Finally, the grip is absolutely genius and will never slip out of your hand thanks to the exaggerated choil. It is incredibly ergonomic. I have carried several blades for street defense and this is by far my favorite. I would love to see Fred Perrin adapt this design to a double edge, dagger style blade. I would buy it in a heartbeat. Do not hesitate to buy this knife. It is truly the best, cleanest design I have seen in years.

Knife is perfection, Sheeth has issues
Great Knife, this one is better then the Bill Moran imo. The tang seams better and it is more balanced in the hand then the Moran. Great blade material and shape. I read some of the reviews before buying it and I disagree with some people who don't like the handle. it is very grippy and actually fits my big hand perfectly. And the biggest knock is that it isn't a true bowie size, well this is true but this is the largest strength about this knife, it is much more tactical, easy to use, carry, hide, then a larger say KaBar. I think they should change the name to a tactical bowie, that pretty much describes it to a T. The knife on it's own is 5 stars, i just love everything about it.The knock comes on the sheath. the bill moran sheath is perfect for that knife, it snaps it securely. This one kind of snaps in but this knife is so sharp it is a dangerous thing because the knife is not secure. it fits snuggly in the sheath, but it doesn't snap in. Minor amount of play when you shake it back and forth, but the neck is not as snug as it should be. You can try molding it with a hair dryer, but I personally will look for a snap I can add or even make another sheath. The knife alone is worth more then I paid, so I would still buy this knife. It is a very good offering from Spyderco for a fix blade. Very light but very very capable camp tactile knife. It isn't in the same category of a Kabar by any means, you wouldn't hammer this into wood like you can with a kabar, But this is an easy carry item due to it's light weight and killer function. Too bad Spyderco didn't work on the sheath better, it would have been an easy 5 stars if they did.
