Works!
My hair is bleached and toned to a silver color.I use Fanola No-Yellow Purple Shampoo for upkeep which works wonders eliminating any/all yellowness. It leaves the lightest shade of lavender which brightens/whitens to a silver.I also have a dark brown shadow root, however it is quickly fading into a lighter warmer brown shade. The purple shampoo is great for the silver parts of my hair, but did absolutely nothing for my brassy roots, of course, because it was more orange than yellow. So I decided to try this shampoo since it was blue and targets eliminating orange. Plus, I needed to give my hair a break from coloring/processing because it did acquire some damage from the bleach...First Attempt: The no-orange shampoo squeezed into my palm first looked more purple than blue, and smelled so different from the no-yellow shampoo (almost like a cologne), so I was a little off-put at first impression. However, once lathered up, the foam was definitely blue, and the strong scent faded away. I applied this in the shower after washing my hair with regular shampoo. I focused it on my roots first then the rest of my hair and lathered thoroughly with my fingers. I wasn't sure how long I should keep it on for, so I rinsed it out only after a minute or two.Unfortunately, after my hair was fully dried I inspected closely only to see little to no difference in my roots. I also noticed it made my bleached parts were less lavender/silver and now more grey/silver. It slightly darkened my silver because of the blue/ash tone, but it was very subtle and I actually didn't mind it. It was more of a true silver now. But my roots were my main concern!!!Second Attempt: I applied with the same method but instead of only keeping it on for a couple minutes, I left it on for 3x longer. I applied generously to my roots and massaged thoroughly and then applied to the rest of my hair. After I was done lathering everything, I left it on for approximately 6-7 minutes, then rinsed. I also deep conditioned right after. This time, upon closer inspection once fully dried, I actually noticed a difference in my roots! Granted, this shampoo is not going to turn orange into blue, but it definitely deposits blue to neutralize brassiness. I went from a brassy light brown to a neutral/ash brown. And since my silver was more of a true silver rather than lavender, it all blended together so much better.I will continue to use this shampoo for the next month or two before my next dark shadow root touch up session!

Gets that orange brass out!
WOW this shampoo is awesome! I moved to a very small town and when I said to the stylist doing my blonde color - "I come up red so don't use bleach " - well she didn't listen and I ended up a lovely shade of Ronald McDonald. Eeeek! O.O Needless to say there was no way I was going to let her fix it and since there were no other salons nearby, I had to figure it out on my own. Opposites on the color wheel will cancel each other out and seeing that I was a horrid shade of orange I knew blue would save me. Now this blue shampoo reads right there in the listing title "Fanola No Orange Shampoo" so I had to give it a try. It is very (very) highly pigmented and that got me excited. While it won't stain your scalp or skin (I didn't experience any skin staining), it may stain finger cuticles so I advise wearing gloves while applying. After washing with a clarifying shampoo first and drying my hair, I left the Fanola Shampoo on for 15 minutes and that dulled the brightness a bit. Subsequently, I did 6 other treatments (on squeaky clean dry hair) over the course of 8 days, leaving the shampoo on for 20 minutes each time, and am happy to say my hair now looks like a pretty strawberry blonde. Whew! This shampoo is a life (and embarrassment) saver!! It is quite drying so you'll need a good conditioner afterwards - I used Cantu Moisturizing Curl Activator Creme and it softened my hair right up. If you've had an orange hair disaster - the Fanola No Orange Shampoo could just be your lifesaver too.

If you're on the fence, read this!
As a licensed professional, I'd like to give people a word of advice... this product will not make your hair brown or magically make your blorange hair look like a picture on instagram! This is a temporary (but effective) way of toning out some light brassiness from your hair after it has already been professionally colored/ lightened or if you're a natural golden blonde. If your hair is a very dark orange like a level 1-6 (even though level 1-4 really never gets orange, if anything it can appear red, but I digress) you most likely need to head to your favorite professional salon for a toner/ glaze. For level 7 and up, this will work great for you! I suggest washing with regular sulfate free shampoo first and then lather lightly on clean hair wherever your orange problem is, clip it up and leave for 5-20 minutes depending on the porosity of you hair and how brassy it is ( i.e. little bit of brass/ high porosity- 5 min / a lot of brass/ low porosity- 20 min). You may need to test it out a few times to see what works best! Also, WEAR GLOVES!!! This stuff is super pigmented and will turn your hands blue. If you end up leaving it on too long or your hair is too ashy or even blue-ish don't worry.. it only lasts a couple of washes. Additionally, I recommend you deep condition your hair afterwards because like most toning shampoos, this stuff is slightly drying. Lastly, for those of you with a yellow/ gold problem more so than an orange problem, try Fanola No Yellow shampoo instead! For my fellow licensed professionals, buying hair products from amazon is usually sacrilegious for me but salonguys.com sells it for so much more and the shipping is so expensive so just to test it out I bought the same product from them and from here. From what I can tell they are practically identical in packaging and yield the same results on my clients. Basically, if this is a knock off it's a pretty damn good one so save your money!Hope this helps, good luck!
